I have heard it said that teams take on the personality of their head coach... this would appear to be true with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Todd Bowles shows no fire or emotion on the sidelines and his defenses look as though they lack that same fire and emotion.
If you look at some of the other coaches such as Nick Siriani in Philly or Demeco Ryans in Houston, you see passion and energy.
Arians had fire...Bowles doesn't. Gruden had fire and passion. Kiffin had passion. You get the idea.
Bowles is not head coach material.
Tony Dungy
Arians, Brady established a change in culture; this was undid last year. If not for Brady, would have had double digit losses
will have double digit losses this year as well.
Returning starters from Super Bowl in 2022 - Brady, Fournette, Evans, Godwin, Wirfs, Smith, Vea, Gholston, White, David, Shaq, Davis, Dean, Winfield. 14/22
the 8 missing
gronk
kappa
jensen
marpet
Brown
Suh
JPP
Whitehead
Defense was replaced with JTR, Hall, Hicks, Edwards. Not like suh or JPP have done much since their departure but yeah two picks missing high with JTR and Hall is on Jason Lich. That being said defense still has a lot of the key pieces
on offense, the offensive line is much worse. Obviously losing Gronk was big.
still, to think the 13 win team would have a losing record in their “unfinished business” season was a complete disaster and something that will forever be on Bowles resume.
Bowles screwed himself this season by starting 3-1. The expectations suddenly got higher.
either way this was likely his last year but I think it was alot of how he coached a relatively talented team in 2022. This year, he just didn’t have to lose double digit games so 8-9 likely would save his job. But it’s all about perception. Starting 3-1 then ending 4-9 is grounds for dismissal

Yep. The kicker for me was when Evans appeared to make a catch, but they ruled it incomplete and Evans was absolutely sure of it and telling the sideline to challenge and Bowles just stands there emotionless not doing a damn thing about it. No challenge. Luckily the offense bailed him out, but that could have been costly at the time. He also struggles to hold players accountable.
That's fire and passion thing is bullshit.I have heard it said that teams take on the personality of their head coach... this would appear to be true with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tom Landry was called stone face for his lack of emotion. Hall of Fame Coach
Chuck Knoll Never saw any emotion at all. Hall of Fame Coach
Bill Belichick Never shows any emotion at all. Future Hall of Fame Coach
Criticize his lack of production, but it has nothing to do with emotions.
You cut Dungy for his lack of emotion, but he was a tremendous teacher and leader of men. His players had the greatest respect for him and would run through hell with gasoline drawers on for him. Coaches have different styles of leading. You mention Gruden, but after that 1st year, players began to despise him. Bad example.
Tony Dungy
Dungy's offense lacked fire and emotion...Kiffen led the D, which carried those teams
haha never seen anyone try to split the two like that.
I guess Sapp said he’d take a bullet (almost) for Kiffin… lol
Bowles has enough problems. Being stoic is not one of them.
Bill Belichick Never shows any emotion at all. Future Hall of Fame Coach
I'm not interested in getting into again, but you continually get this wrong. You're allowed to learn from your mistakes. You're not required to remain ignorant.

Noll and Landry were generations ago... players and culture is far different today than it was back in the sixties. Most of today's players need total motivation to play the game because of their fat paychecks. There are plenty of players who are in it for the Love of the Game and competition. But the number of those type players is dwindling... I am just saying that Todd Bowles does not take on the personality that would motivate his players hence all of the stupid penalties and lack of discipline. Todd Bowles would be the absolute worst example of a motivation speaker. You would think with his years of experience in the NFL that he would have learned from past mistakes... but he is the epitome of insanity whereas he does the same things over and over and expects a different result. The bottom line is that he needs to go...period!
I think SR was on target when he said there is a lack of accountability. Bowles stays loyal to his players and won't bench them until he absolutely has to. So the players don't have a sense of urgency. These are professionals and the rah rah approach will only go so far in the NFL. And SR stated that although there are leaders, there are no players in the locker room that you don't want to cross ie Sapp or JPP. The players need to know that somebody is holding them and their teammates accountable and that isn't happening. That's on Bowles, but it's not just about giving motivating speeches and being fired up on the sidelines. Winfield gave a motivating speech. Apparently, that didn't do crap.

agreed.
I think SR points out a key difference between Bowles and Arians
and also a key ingredient missing in the team
If you’ve ever heard Barber talk about how intimidated he was by Hardy (and I assume many similar stories about Sapp) it’s hard to understate that role on great teams. Brady obviously had a similar impact when he arrived although his method was different than those guys.
You need a guy on the team that commands respect usually they come outside of tampa people because those players are built different and are taught different. We have no guys with an edge about them
Meh.
The whole loud, rah-rah, over-the-top personality isn't a needle mover in my opinion.
If it were, Devin White wouldn't be the flaming dumpster he is as a player.
Todd Bowles being a horrible head coach has nothing to do with his personality and demeanor.
He's just bad.
