If Bill O'Brien is interested in coming back to the NFL as some reports suggest, why not make a play for him? With the Penn State job then open, presumably it could be Schiano's for the taking. It was always his dream job and he only came to Tampa after it was clear he wasn't going to be able to get the Penn State job after Paterno.
I would love him to come to Tampa but honestly I think the decision on Schiano will come down to these last two games and if he is indeed fired I see the Glazers going after a favorite of theirs Lovie Smith
I don't follow PSU... for creepiness reasons. But, I doubt O'Brien would come to a team that fires coaches on the regulars. He's set where he is.
As a PSU alum, that would really suck. Christian Hackenberg had offers from Alabama and Florida, but still committed to PSU mainly because of O'Brien. Even though he can't offer Bowl games obviously, his pro-style offense and his coaching, especially of QBs was still attracting top recruits. Hackenberg I think will be a top NFL QB prospect in 2-3 years if he can remain being coached by O'Brien. He will stay in the pocket and take a shot and still deliver as he did against Wisconsin. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:10059467&startTime=00:00
It's hard to think Schiano deserves another year, even when he gets one. I'm fed up with his block-head do it my way not the best way mindset.
Bill O'Brien has alot to do with the Bucs...indirectly. Penn State is Schiano's dream job...he will take it if O'Brien leaves.
Looks like O'Brien is the Houston Texans number 1 target: http://houston.culturemap.com/news/sports/12-18-13-penn-state-bill-obrien-emerges-as-houston-texans-no-1-target-for-new-head-coach/
I'm amazed someone thinks Schiano deserves another year. H may get one but deserve's got nothing to do with it.
Yea you lost me when you wrote schiano deserves another year....

nice obscure reference to Clint Eastwoods Unforgiven.
I know some people like O'Brien's potential and he does have NFL credentials, but I don't see how the Glazers can hire another coach whose most recent job wasn't NFL head coach or NFL coordinator.
I feel like O'Brien's name being circulated for so many jobs has more to do with him having a good agent than him being in such high demand.

John U. Bacon seems to think O'Brien will stay at Penn State and he's become somewhat of an insider in State College. As far as Schiano, I think he's weathered the storm and with some offensive coaching changes, next year should be much improved.
Schiano may get another year, but it won't be because he deserved it.
