I just had a bad thought run through my mind and I’m curious what the collective mental state won all things would be after this:
It’s Week 6 in London (Home game!) vs Carolina.
We’re 2-3 and this game is pivotal.
Jameis has been alright this far. Hasn’t turned over the ball at the pace he has historically. Hasn’t been great. Hasn’t been bad. He has, however, taken a LOT of hits thus far (both in the pocket and post pocket-escape/climb).
It’s a one score game late in the 3rd.
As usual, we’re getting 5 out on the play. No RB/TE help for our OL.
Brian Burns has had a big year to date. Lots of Pressures and converted a 4-5 for Sacks. It’s 3rd and 7, 5 out in the pattern, Burns 1v1 with DSmith. DSmith makes his typical late 3rd/early 4th bad play and is utterly killed to the edge (let’s say Burns beat him on an inside counter recently). Jameis feels the instant heat and tries to pocket escape right to give him time to get a throw off that way. Two steps as he cocks to throw on the run.
Boom. Crushed. Separated from the football.
Sack > Fumble > TD Return.
Worse still, Jameis is on the ground and isn’t getting up. Clavicle or AC joint injury and he’s done for the season.
Game over. Season almost surely toast.
