Bruce Allen: 'The control will be mine'When the Washington Redskins hired Mike Shanahan, they gave him the power in the organization. Now that he's been fired, that power will transfer to general manager Bruce Allen."The control will be mine," Allen said Monday.Allen said that also means control over personnel decisions. But he said he will also work with director of player personnel Scott Campbell and director of pro personnel Morocco Brown, who interviewed for the general manager's position in Arizona last offseason, in any sort of personnel decisions. The Redskins also have former San Diego general manager A.J. Smith listed as a senior executive."We are going to redefine some of the characteristics that we're looking for in players," Allen said. "Obviously when we have a new head coach there will be some schematic adjustments that we will make, but that power will be with me."Allen said they are going to keep everyone in their current role -- and they will be involved in the interview process."We feel comfortable with them. It doesn't mean we might not add somebody to the personnel department," Allen said, "but we feel we have a good personnel department that has been interviewed for other positions and we're comfortable with it now."However, if there's a coach that they really like who demands the same sort of power Shanahan had, then it's always possible the setup could change again. Or Allen could maintain the power, taking other opinions -- coaches and the personnel department -- into account but make the final decision. When the Redskins hired him, he was considered as much a politician, able to deal with all sorts of people. For now, Allen will remain in charge."My job is to put the Washington Redskins organization on the right track," Allen said, "and to continue to build the foundation for this team to win and it is my job to find the next head coach for the Washington Redskins."
Did he cackle after saying that? Maybe give a nice, "excellent" while steepling his fingers?
Oh Redskins, thank you for being more of a trainwreck than the Bucs
Allen is awful. Idk how he has a job.
Who is RGIII going to blame now when he sucks again next year?

ROTFLMAO. Just think. The Redskins could've kept all those draft picks and just draft Kirk Cousins like they did. Now they miss out on on Clowney because of their stupidity.

or the best QB in that class, Russell Wilson.Cousins sucks for the record though haha. Not sure why people have such a hard on for him. Dude's trash.

Yep, living off of his dad's reputation. There's a lot of that in football. Cough Lane Kiffen.

He has a place in the NFL. Just not controlling personnel.
I would be so depressed if I were a Redskin fan. No #2 overall pick and now Allen is calling the shots....They are doomed
Just rumor I've heard from co-workers up here in Redskins country, but Raheem Morris might get a shot to at least interview for the HC position, if not be the next DC. At first, I would have just assumed Rooney rule, but they are satisfying that with interviewing Lovie. Also find interesting that all of Shanahan's staff were fired except for 6 coaches which includes Raheem.

Lol
So if Shanny had all the control, why did he not want to trade up for RG3 and yet it happened????

A lot of coaches like to take the credit when things go right and blame someone else when it does't.
For all the knocks on Mark Dominik, at least he pulled some gems from the practice squad during his tenure with the Bucs. Allen is basically a less skilled Dominik; both know how to negotiate a contract and work the salary cap, but they don't really know how to draft, as the last two rookie classes appeared to be Schiano inspired picks.
