Let me start by saying it is not a secret that I’m a Mike Glennon supporter. I just have a problem when the radio people on 620 trash him. The afternoon guy (I will not even use his name) is the worst. He bashes Mike’s play and compares him to the other QBs in our division. He says Mike is the 4th best QB in the division and the Bucs deserve better. He speaks of a rookie QB as if he has been in the NFL as long as the others. I just think it is unfair to compare Mike to the other QBs in the division at this point in his career. Before the Super Bowl he said Peyton Manning knows what the other teams defense is going to do before the play. He went on to say Mike does not even know what the defense is going to do after the play is over. It is funny how Peyton does not know what the other team is going to do with d-linemen all up in his face and no WRs open (see this past Super Bowl). I just want to see Mike get a fair shot at being the starting QB this season and I think Lovie will be fair. I want to see him behind a strong o-line. :)
I agree that he has earned a chance to at least compete. He's always going to be a remnant and a reminder of the Schiano era, which fans desperately want to forget. I still think he is only backup quality,but a top-notch backup.
He deserves a shot and his play on the field will determine the rest. I like his study of the game, and all the extra time he puts in the film room. He wants to be a winner. I have spoken with him a few times and I can see the passion when he talks football.
Comparing Mike's rookie season to any upper tier QB far removed from their own rookie year is unfair. I think he did very well with what he had to work with. I think he has more than earned the right to be given a chance with a better supporting cast.
First to second year. Better play calling. Better head coach. Fewer distractions. Better supporting cast. Try him in Year 2. If he's more or less the same, you know he's not the answer. But if he's league average or better, we might have something.
I'm on the fence with Mike, I can see potential, but I'm not sure that he can be anything more than Matt Cassell at this point. However, I do like him better than most of the 1st round quarterbacks that I've seen mentioned, so I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with a full off season and playing with the #1's full time. I would just hope to see him add about 15 pounds of muscle to his frame in the off season in order to stand in the pocket stronger.
Im not sure why but mike reminds me of drew Bledsoe. if he has that type of career with a top 5 defense, this team can be special. Im not gonna lie and some of u might call me crazy but I really want mike vick to come in and compete. if vick wins the job in camp and then gets hurt maybe glennon can pull a foles. im a believer in glennon but having vick as our starting qb would sure be exciting to watch. I still cant forget the days when vick was tearing up defenses and then when he played to bucs he couldn't do shit, how ironic would it be for vick to lead us to the next level. vick has one contract left in him and I think he has some magic left..
Not seeing it. Got rid of the coach who wanted Twiggy? Check. Got rid of the GM who drafted him? Check. Got rid of the fans who still want to hitch the Wagon to Twiggy? Not yet. Would be priceless tho.

Glennon has earned a chance to be a starter but he's a backup so no matter how hard he tries he's not going to look like Rodgers, Brady, Russell, Kap, Superman, Brees, Manning, or any other quality starting QB. You can dress him up and call him a starter all you want but he's still a backup.

Not trying to dress it up. I dont think Glennon is the man either, but it doesnt matter who you have at QB if you cant block anyone. Also, what ship do you think we have that isnt already sunk? Its not like we handed the kid the reins to a contender and are worried he cant take us to the promised land.
