Step 1

Trent Richardson says he'll never again be a healthy scratch."That situation will never happen to me again," a surprisingly-confident Richardson said Thursday. "Anybody can quote me, today, because it's never going to happen again." We suppose it's a good thing that T-Rich still has his confidence, but it will happen again, likely this Sunday as the Colts venture into New England to vie for the AFC's crown. Dead weight as a runner, Richardson wasn't ready for a special teams role in the Divisional Round. He's unlikely to have made enough progress in a week. Although Richardson's $3.184 million salary for 2015 is fully guaranteed, he's a strong candidate for release. Jan 15 - 7:51 PMSource: Indianapolis Star

Step 2

Trent Richardson did not travel with the Colts to New England due to personal reasons.Richardson will miss Sunday's AFC Championship Game after being a healthy scratch last week. He's fallen behind Dan Herron and Zurlon Tipton on the depth chart, and likely wouldn't have been active for a special teams role. Despite a fully guaranteed $3.2 million salary, Richardson is a candidate for offseason release. Jan 17 - 3:03 PMSource: Kevin Bowen on Twitter
