I say yes. Sure they were stupid to try to dodge the protocols. They broke the law, but I doubt anything will come that. But the lost three paychecks. That's three out of 17, which is approximately 1/6th of their pay for the year. That's in a business where they don't have long careers. You try losing 1/6th of your yearly income because of a bonehead move and see what your wife thinks about that. If you make $72K that would put you down to $60K. "Sorry honey I kinda blew $12 thou because I didn't want to get a prick in the arm...." That isn't going to go over too well on the homefront.
So I think what they got was a fair penalty. As for the "zero tolerance" comment, that's all tough sounding, but you want AB to be a choir boy into infinity? Is that really fair? That's just telling people at the start you are going to use a guy and throw him away when you're done with him. That's not what you want the Bucs to be about. AB deserves to be able to cash in some points for turning things around with the Bucs, no just cut loose because Bruce has to stick to a previous statement.
So I'm OK with them coming back. Good luck to the Bucs.
