Bailey Adams on need for a WR: This is going to be a need regardless of what happens with Mike Evans. Because even if Evans is back on a new contract like everyone wants him to be, he’ll be 31 next season.  From the tone of that comment, it's evident that Bailey doesn't consider himself one of "everyone".

How does it make sense to invest more money in WRs than any team in the league, knowingly doing that and knowing that WR is still going to be a draft need!  What's wrong with that picture?  Why pay Evans $60 mil for three years at least if you know going in that he's probably going to be too old?

That's messed up.   We have too many needs on this team to be signing a player to a big contract and drafting his replacement in the same offseason! What Bailey is subtley (not that subtley) trying to tell you is that it's time to let Mike Evans walk.

I tend to agree with Bailey that WR does become a draft need. It's less about signing Evans and drafting his replacement.  I feel it has more to do with if Evans is re-signed Godwin won't be resigned the following year. In essence you're drafting Godwin's replacement, then in year 3 of Evans contract you draft Evans eventual replacement, so that they can learn under Evans tutelage much the way Evans did under Vincent Jackson. No matter how you look at it 2 WRs will need to drafted high over the next several years regardless as Godwin is 28 and has dealt with his share of injuries ..Godwin in my opinion is a very good WR, but he is more the Alvin Harper to Evans Michael Irvin in that Evans opens things up for others in the offense because of the additional coverage he draws.

Bailey's next good take, will be his first.

It’s a major need. Haven’t draft a round 1 receiver since Mike almost 10 years ago. It is time.

Outside of our top 2 WR we are completely devoid of good/great talent in our WR room....There's a lot of youth.  Trey Palmer could become something, or he may flame out...we shall see.

. In essence you're drafting Godwin's replacement,

Well OK that's another possibility, but then they should do that the following year when we cut loose Godwin.  There will be some huge holes in this team this year, and we don't have the luxury to use a high pick on a WR just to get him broken in for a year.  If you sign Evans, you need to get a #3 WR (if you don't think Palmer is that guy).  The Smith-Schuster type of guy.  They are a dime a dozen on the FA market most of the time, and Licht is good at scrounging around the Salvation Army store of the NFL to find guys when he needs to.  We don't need three stud WRs looking around while the RB is getting stuffed two yards behind the line of scrimmage.

We spent big money on Gage because we were a pass happy offense with Tom Brady as QB.  Now we're supposed to be a balanced offense, we don't need to spend the farm on a WR whether its cap space or draft capital.  So we need to invest in balancing the offense with better IOL and a #1 TE type before we go out and spend a Day 2 pick on a WR. That's on the offensive side which is what Bailey was addressing.

Sorry, but this is simply not true.

Is finding WR depth a "need"? Sure.

Is it a "major need"? No. It's not.

You know what a "major need" is? A quarterback who can actually hit our rookie #3 WR who is CONSTANTLY open every game.

I feel like you're cherry picking what I was saying.  I'm not disputing having other more pressing needs like QB IOl,MLB,Edge,CB etc.  As I said outside of the top 2 there's a lot of unproven youth that MAY be anywhere from average--->good...If Evans ultimately leaves in FA then WR becomes a major need as I feel Godwin then takes on the double teams and I don't have confidence in other WR's currently on the roster to step up and be a solid compliment to Godwin in the scenario.  If Evans does ultimately come back then WR becomes less pressing of a need at least for next year, to which I would expect TB to use a 1-2 rd pick the following draft.

Agree.  There's a difference between using a high draft pick to draft a guy who will be a future #1 and using a midround pick or the free agency route to find a guy who is a true #3 WR.

Wasn’t cherry picking, but admittedly, I confused you with someone else who said it was a “major need”.

My apologies.

In my opinion it is not a need based on what I have seen so far.  Palmer is rising and Otton is finally starting to turn it on with White showing why he is a receiving threat.  The Bucs have a young trio to spread the ball around.

The dumbest thing we could do is draft a WR high.

Improve the roster in the trenches, resign Mike. See if Palmer could develop, let godwins contract expire after next year

so I’m thinking 2025 draft
