Ā
Oh nice, do you have the games i want to take a look
Ā
I was assuming JTS was gone.Ā But OTC projects his cap value to be $2.3 mil.Ā If JTS can't find any suitors maybe it would make sense to bring him back as a depth player, a placeholder until a rookie draft learns the ropes and takes over.Ā 1) He knows the system.Ā 2) Perhaps he would benefit from a change of coaches.Ā 3) Bowles, who certainly had a hand in drafting JTS, would have a last chance to show his pick wasn't a total bust.Ā I don't think any team is going to shell out any serious money for JTS.Ā So he'll probably have to find a one-yera prove it deal possibly with the Bucs.Ā ĀOnly way a rookie edge works is if the Bucs can sign a cheap vet edge and a veteran pass rushing DT to create a rotation.Ā You are not going to have a proper rotation with JTS, Gholston and Gaines having many meaningful snaps.Ā Vea, Kancey and Diaby can do only so much which is why a stud edge or adding several players to create a proper rotation makes all the difference in the world.
Ā
Ā
That logic can be applied with Shaq and Anthony Nelson too.Ā But returning Shaq, Nelson and JTS doesn't help this team anymore as we have hit a ceiling with this group.Ā Braswell, Diaby, Ramirez and Watts are under contract.Ā Bucs need to add two veterans that are a step up from Nelson, JTS or Shaq to help this young group or one upper level veteran and then draft an edge rusher in round 1 or two.
Ā
Ā
Both SR and Sikkema are or will be mocking Ezeiruaku to the Bucs right now.Ā So, I'm going to give that a lot of credence when both of those guys agree.
But one guy has Jalon Walker sliding to the Bucs.Ā That's an interesting proposition.Ā Would the Bucs trade up a couple spots to get him? Walker could take a couple years to fully develop, but "The ceiling here is a Pro Bowl linebacker who defensive coordinators can deploy as their ace card ā whether it's shutting down tight ends in coverage or creating havoc off the edge. Few prospects in this class offer that kind of game-changing potential." according to Draft Buzz.Ā
Jihad Campbell is getting a lot of mock draft attention for the Bucs, but I'll agree with SR who thinks that Licht may be a little gun shy about using another first round pick on an inside linebacker.Ā Ā
Others are mocking wide receivers to replace Godwin.Ā Apparently they didn't get the memo that Godwin is coming back to the Bucs.Ā But regardless I don't think the Bucs use a 1st rounder on a wide receiver with all the needs they have on defense.Ā I'd say it's much more likely that they draft a WR on Day 2 or even Day 3.Ā They need a better version of Trey Palmer, a guy who can stretch the field.Ā Those small fast guys can sometimes drop to the middle rounds.Ā Ā
Our biggest needs for defense is Pass rush, boundary corner and MOF lb play
Ā
Dennis is the answer if he stays healthy, pass rush and boundary corner play needs to improve, so that we can man up and not be forced into zone
But how confident is Licht on the Bucs ability to draft a pass rusher?Ā He may look at the plethora of edge rushers on the FA/trade market and decide to get somebody who has proven they can play in the NFL rather than spend a high draft pick on one.Ā ĀOur biggest needs for defense is Pass rush, boundary corner and MOF lb play
Ā
Ā
