I’ve been trying to figure out why Licht was retained like most of you. My only conclusion relies on the fact that I keep hearing the Glazers want a splash hire for HC. Jim and John Harbaugh are splashy but not realistically available. Josh McDaniels is getting an interview it seems but how can he be trusted? The only other splashy hire to me seems to be Bruce Arians. It seems to me the only chance the Bucs and Glazers had to land Arians is through the connection Licht has with him. This makes me think Licht and Arians have already had discussions that led to Licht being able to convince the Glazers that Arians could be landed. I understand the Cards have to grant permission for this to take place but am assuming Licht’s Arizona roots have helped him already address that as well. So if it’s not BA then I’m back to being at a loss as to why Licht was retained.
