I don't think anyone is suggesting we simply cut him. That would be idiotic.
I've seen it suggested, not much but its out there. The trade part doesnt make much sense to me either...not from our standpoint, but from a practical one. Who is going to trade us for him and fit his $16 mil under their cap?
I don't think a trade is likely either, but it is possible. In the OP of the other thread we are going back in forth in....there are several scenarios. I think it's the Jags, Raiders, and someone else.
I saw those and really liked the Jacksonville one...but I dont see any of those actually happening. The only teams with cap room need much more than a shut down CB and those who could use Revis as the final piece they need dont have the cap room.
Here's an article about possible teams with a lot of cap space to possibly trade Revis to. Oakland, Jax, and GB. I'd throw Cleveland in there, too. They have a ton of cap space and I remember a rumor last season about them possibly looking to put Revis and Haden together. Plus it's not like that team is run by the most intelligent staff in the league. http://www.bucsnation.com/2014/1/16/5315770/revis-repo-options-for-the-buccaneers-if-they-decide-his-cap-number

Only one of those I can even see as a possibility is Jax. Oakland likely wont give up their 1st rounder and I have a hard time seeing Green Bay making a move like that. Im not objecting to trading him, just saying that its so highly unlikely. Its just funny to see all the posts about how a corner isnt worth $16 million and its crazy to pay that for a non-QB.....yet its just as simple as trading him lol.
Funny thing is how many people were pimping Moron Claiborne as our only value option going into the draft a couple years ago , because shut-down corner was such a premium position. Now apparently a shutdown corner isnt worth anything. Lol
"...So it’s possible that “The Kraken” may dwell in Tampa Bay next season, but I wouldn’t call it a realistic chance."then why bring it up?

I think once Revis restructures and gets the stability and insurance of guaranteed money in his contract, the yearly hit has to come down to a reasonable amount. I think $12.5M is the most that this market dictates. Any more than that is ridiculous. I bring this up because the only way he gets traded is if he agrees to a restructured, reasonable deal....which means he controls where he goes. So in reality, Jax, Browns, and the Raiders are almost certainly out. It would have to be a legit team like the Packers, or Revis isn't going to go along with it....and nobody is taking on his contract as is. If he restructures to a reasonable deal though, then we mise well keep him.

Any restructure will guarantee him money so he costs us if we trade him.

He agreed to his current deal as part of his trade to us. Restructuring a new deal as part of a trade to another team would be no different. But like I said, if he is willing to restructure to a reasonable deal, then we should just keep him anyways.
If Revis would take a 6 year $91M deal ($15.2M/yr average) with the first three years paying $12.5M, all guaranteed ($37.5M).....then I would love him forever and never speak of any silly trades ever again. His final three years would pay $16.5M, $17M, and $20M but would not be guaranteed, so we could decide at that time if he was worth it. Maybe by then the cap has gone up and CBs are making more. 2014 - $12.5M fully guaranteed2015 - $12.5M fully guaranteed2016 - $12.5M fully guaranteed2017 - $16.5M not guaranteed2018 - $17M not gauranteed2019 - $20M not guaranteed This deal would average $15.2M/yr on paper so Revis and his agent should be happy with the press release numbers....but in reality he is making $12.5M/yr for the first three years and not a penny more.
We can get out of this hole we're in but we need to blow some shat up in order to do it.
what hole are you referring to?
The black hole. The dead weight. And players who will impede our ability to build a winner. JosephNicksRevisGoldson The contracts for these guys are bad..Martin doesn't really fit into this list but he's just a Dominik guy who is dispensable IMO. We need a MAN who can run the ball. We don't need 3 injury prone midgets. Carlos Hyde type.

Or give him 10 - 15% more money than the next highest CB guaranteed. Something like a $10 million base salary and an end of year bonus that ensures he makes 10% more than any other corner. As it stands he makes 50% more than the next highest paid corner.

I don't think many here thought it was realistic to think Revis would be a Buc either.
Some people denied the Revis trade would ever happen up until the day it did , lol
i'd still like to see revis a full year removed from his knee injury. even though he was rusty he was pretty good last year. i'm looking forward to seeing him fully healthy and in a competent defensive scheme. he has a big cap number but we are still in good cap shape. we dont have to make a move with him nor should we. not if you want to talk about Penn or Goldson I'm all ears.
Assuming Hardy hits free agency, I am not so sure the Bucs would be very high on his wish list. If the Niners or Seahawks threw him a offer, he would be all over it IMO. Or any playoff team for that matter.
