My biggest beef, and there's probably more to this than I know, is WHY did the Bucs not pursue Jairus Byrd? Surely if we had offered a TRADE to Buffalo, they would have been all ears. Obviously everyone's choice here would have been Goldson for Byrd straight up, but no team is gonna trade for Goldson's contract. And Buffalo did not want to give Byrd the big $$$. But there was another possibility open to us... I would think Buffalo would have gone for Mark Barron in a heartbeat; talented young player, former 1st rounder, and very cap-friendly contract. I don't know Buffalo's situation, but surely getting Barron would have been better for Buffalo than just letting Byrd walk. And in Tampa, Byrd would have thrived in Lovie's D. He's much more of a true ball-hawking Free Safety than Barron, and Goldson didn't exactly look the part either. If Byrd lights it up this year and our Safeties don't, we will seriously regret not having gone after Byrd...
