The only reservation I have about Matthews is the system he played in and the QB he protected.  It makes it awfully difficult to evaluate an O-lineman.  That's too big of a question mark to take him at 7, so I personally wouldn't do it.  I wouldn't be too upset if the Bucs think he's worth the gamble. though.

I have the exact same reservation, but if he was there at 7, I would be okay with him there, no question. I wouldn't trade up as previous posters mentioned.

It's much easier to protect for a pocket passer than it is to protect for a guy who is unpredictable and always scrambling around.Non-issue if you ask me. Matthews is a stud.

That is a ridiculous statement. If your LT gets beat with a statue like Glennon....it's a sack. With a mobile QB with great elusiveness....it's probably not. Not sure how you can see it as the exact opposite.

Because with a pocket passer you know where the guy will be.  That makes it a lot easier to anchor.  With a spaz back there you have no idea where he will end up and if you anchor in the wrong spot you can send the rusher right into the QB.

Well if the QB is running himself into sacks...then sure. It would be hard to block for that type of guy.....but if he is super elusive and can make a d-linemen miss even if you don't block at all, like Manziel....then it isn't harder. It's much easier.

Right. This is common knowledge. Blockers don't have eyes in the back of their heads. It's a hell of a lot easier to block for someone who you know where they are going to be. I'm not talking about when a LT gets beat JDub. Not sure where that came from. I don't disagree with your statement either. Just not sure how that ties into what I said?

Because it's harder on the pass rusher two. He isn't locking on to on spot in the pocket and pinning his ears back. He is stopping and changing direction trying contain an elusive guy as he is rushing, which makes it easier for an OT to catch him off balance and beat him. Even if he does get past the OT, chances are the QB gets away and it doesn't count as giving up a sack.
