First time seeing Winston. Wasn't really impressed. The way you guys talked about him I was expecting more.
probably played his worst game of the year and won the National Title so hes pretty goodyou probably are just looking for reasons to not like him. Tom Brady looks horrible sometimes and you wont see me calling him unimpressive
I like Jameis, but he does have a lot to learn. Getting a national title under his belt will do wonders to help him with his nerves, he seems antsy in the first half of this game. Ultimately, he just needed to step into his throws, he was throwing a lot of dead ducks around early on and the team struggled. It was good to see FSU down in the first half, I feel as though I haven't had the opportunity to see how Jimbo and Jameis respond to the situation., granted that I am an FSU fan and it was also nerve-wrecking. I like his leadership at the end of the day and I think as he matures, that may be one of his best skillsets. For what it is worth, haven't seen a quarterback like this in decades from FSU. If Rix was a first rounder, this kid might as well be a lock.
only thing that bothers me is that people are already crowing this kid as if he the second coming! People are willing to make a Ricky Williams type of deal for this kid and i think that would be a big mistake

he definately was too amped up and it showed in his first half performance. to be fair hes a 19 year old kid who just got his team to the national title game so i can pardon him for being a bit overexcited. once he settled down his decision making got a lot better and he started making plays. he definately has a lot to learn still but hes far exceeded any reasonable expectations

+1
Jimbo did a heck of a coaching job with Winston. Funny to hear him say he was kicked out of practice for screwing up the 2 minute drill just before the team headed to Cali.
I will move this thread shortly into our college football section of the board, being that Jameis is not entering the 2014 draft.
How does that crow taste this morning SEC homers? I hear its good with eggs and a little Tabasco.
Auburn schemed to bring the heat and mixed-up defensive packages and confused Winston. I have no problem with that, it was the best game plan you could have dialed-up. Jimbo will be working on a game plan to combat the heavy pressure for next year and Pruitt will have to figure out how to defend against this scheme as we may see it next year.

Completely agree. Ive always admired Auburn's current DC and he had a heck of a game plan. Auburn will be a strong team as long as Gus is there.
Jameis is a great player... but he looks awkward sometimes , his footwork ,the way he runs , and his throwing motion , etc..Dolorous Jason is not so sure he's the slam dunk in the pro's everyone thinks he is , yet , but the kid gets it done on the college level , Can't deny that.
He'll have to work on his "cuteness"

He's a great player but I don't know if it's coordination or whatever but he looks like an awkward athlete.

agree thats hes kinda awkward but most of that is fixable. hes mechanics do tend to break down when hes rolling left(normal for righthanded qbs) and when he tries to get a pass off under pressure (once again normal but needs to be corrected). luckily for him Jimbo is a really good QB coach and hes got at least another year to work on things. the stuff you cant teach like ball placement and arm strength he has. his running style needs to change because he takes too many needless hits. hes terrible at avoiding contactBrett Favre and Phillip Rivers have pretty crappy mechanics too but they do alright. throwing mechanics are a bit overrrated if you ask me. if the guy can get the ball to his receivers without having issues then who really cares if hes pretty doing it
The refs handed that game to FSU on a silver platter the entire game
You mean like when that guy was blatantly horse collared IN FRONT OF A WATCHING REF, and swallowed his whistle? That was bullspit. Glad the Sems won it over an SEC team. Makes me giddy.
There was actually a facemask AND a horse collar on that play. No call. Unbelievable.I think the refs actually called a clean game. You didn't see much of them. And any idiot knows that PI call on the final drive was correct.
