Jeff Garcia Sounds Off on Johnny Manziel, Mike Glennon, Buccaneers’ QB SituationBy Leo Howell - Feb 15th, 2014 at 7:47 pmNov 30, 2013; Columbia, MO. Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel (2) throws a pass against the Missouri Tigers during the second half at Faurot Field. Missouri defeated Texas A&M 28-21. Peter G. Aiken-USA TODAY Sports The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have plenty of questions this offseason at the quarterback position, as Mike Glennon performed admirably at times, and questionably at others. The draft holds several attractive options at QB, and many fans believe the Buccaneers should spend an early pick on the right quarterback, myself included. Former Bucs QB Jeff Garcia doesn’t agree.
Garcia’s support for Glennon is based on his future as much as his past, and that’s something we’ve discussed on the site previously. Jeff Tedford’s coaching and scheme may help Mike Glennon more than experience or a full offseason as the starter. Also, Garcia’s suggestion for a quarterback like Fales in the middle rounds is realistic, as it has been general manager Jason Licht’s preference to stock up on quarterbacks, especially through the draft. But what if the Buccaneers ignore Garcia’s advice and take a quarterback in the first round? Garcia says there’s one popular target he’d avoid.
In other words, Jeff Garcia has lots of questions about a player who compares favorably to himself as an NFL prospect. Many analysts say that Manziel could prove to be a Jeff Garcia-type of quarterback, so it’s interesting to hear Garcia’s take on the Texas A&M prospect. In our draft profile of Manziel, we shared many of the same concerns. He thrived on chaos, and didn’t seem to have all of the tools needed to step in and play quarterback on day one in the NFL. Many Buccaneer fans spent Saturdays this past fall watching SEC football and watching in amazement as Manziel put on a show with his arm and legs. But as Garcia points out, he’ll face a totally different monster in the NFL against real defenses. http://thepewterplank.com/2014/02/15/jeff-garcia-sounds-johnny-manziel-mike-glennon-buccaneers-qb-situation/
Really Garcia? You thrived on chaos. Manziel is Garcia-like. I guess you aren't an advocate of yourself either. It is weird listening to a guy who wasn't fundamentally the best rag on a guy who shares some same characteristics.
Yes, odd.
Garcia thrived on chaos, but didn't DEPEND on it for success. Garcia ran plays when there and anticipated pretty well, actually, which is a big ?? on Manziel...
Other than maybe the CFL... was Garcia ever a a "franchise" QB?
Strange you mention CFL Calico, as that's where I see Manziel ending up if he fails in the NFL. I just think the CFL game is possibly more suited to his abilities.

I've been saying for some time now that Manziel is Garcia 2.0........and that works for me.
The game has changed enough that Manziel can thrive day 1 in the NFL. Garcia started off in the CFL but that was during a different time.I agree that he reminds me of Garcia 2.0
The Manziel Mafia ready to attack Garcia now.

"Hes like Garcia!"Garcia: "I'll believe it when I see it""WTF GARCIA MAD"
He's not hating on Manziel. Saying there won't be 4-5 seconds for him to throw the ball or the running lanes he got in college is nothing but the truth. He's saying he wouldn't draft him number one overall. "Learn to throw the ball on time with anticipation" - valid concern considering Manziel doesn't throw many timed routes. Sounds like he'd be honest enough to say he wouldn't draft himself number 1 overall.
What's funny is when there are pros having concerns about him in the NFL but Johnny's fan club here just ignore it and laugh at them instead
Funny how some fans that screamed loud to get rid of Garcia and get a real QB in are now advocating a player they see as Garcia 2.0

You guys act like JFF had four or five seconds EVERY down. Laughable. The haters are more absurd than the people who want to roll the dice on getting a stud QB. Trentersexuals still mad.
Also, what Garcia is essentially doing is hating on his game. You start critiquing a mans work, and he is prone to get defensive. You try to cut into his money, and it is hating. Period. Which is completely cool. I just happen to disagree. I like JFFs game. It is better than what the haters say, IMO. Time will tell.
