And here I was expecting Garcia to go off on Michael Sam. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Don't you mean "get off"?

It's funny to listen to Garcia rag on Manziel.................for the exact same things that Bucs fans used to rag on him for. Very ironic. David Fales and Glennon? Good Lord help us. Let me guess Fales went to Garcias QB camp?

Really Garcia? You thrived on chaos. Manziel is Garcia-like. I guess you aren't an advocate of yourself either. It is weird listening to a guy who wasn't fundamentally the best rag on a guy who shares some same characteristics.

I've been saying for some time now that Manziel is Garcia 2.0........and that works for me.

Ok, fine. I can live with Manziel being Garcia 2.0 but, remember, Garcia went undrafted and it took him 7 years to become NFL Garcia. People are talking about Manziel being a top draft pick. Garcia's point is you don't reach in the first round to select a QB like that. The only problem I see with Manziel is that any team who drafts him will try to "fix" him rather than let him play the way that has made him successful and that will probably severely slow his growth.

Has Tedford told you of his plans for the QB?

Freeman failed because he liked to party. From the looks of it Manziel likes to party even more than Freeman. Are you sure you want to waste a draft pick on a dude that will spend more time with his head in the toilet than in the film room? I know I wouldn't.

Freeman didn't fail because he liked to party, he failed because he was a drug induced recluse who would rather sit around and pet his snakes than pick up a playbook or fix his game.

Lets not forget that he wasn't good to begin with.

Garcia was much more disciplined by the time he got to the NFL. His run in San Fran broke a handful of Montana and Youngs records. Yes he could scramble, yes he could extend plays, but he was also a very intelligent accurate thrower who kept his eyes down field. I think Garcia and Wilson have more in common.

He's already talked about fixing Glennon's mechanics. That's what they all do. They tinker, whether they were ever QB's themselves before or not. Sometimes it's hard for players to adjust after they have been doing something the same way for over a decade. It slows their thought processes down. Sometimes it helps...most times it probably doesn't. That's why there are so many first round busts. Once they stop trying to fit square pegs into round holes, maybe some of these guys will start to prosper....but if you look at the historical batting average, it isn't good. All these failures are as much on the coaches shoulders as it is the players. I've gone back and rewatched all the Bucs games from last season. The play calling and the schemes were absolutely atrocious at times. If Steve Young was the QB of the Bucs last season in his prime, he still would have looked like Steve Young when he played for the Bucs the first go around.

"Fixing glennon's mechanics" might mean a lot of things.Would they not do that anyway if he's in a backup's role?Nothing in what they have said so far makes me believe they're 100% on board with glennon. A "high" opinion does not mean a thing. Hell, I bet gruden could somehow make jamarcus russell sound like an all pro. That obviously doesn't mean gruden would actually START the guy.

My point wasn't about Glennon. It was about Manziel. Whoever gets their hands on him will probably try to change him into something he is not because what he does isn't the norm in the NFL. Hard to change a tiger's stripes.

Manziel doesn't have elite anything. Not his footwork, not his arm strength, not his running ability, not his physical tools. The only way he is going to be successful is to make up for that with a tremendous work ethic and being that he is known as a party guy off the field, I don't see that happening.Draft Watkins or OL in the first and get Jimmy G in the 2nd.

I think you're making it into an issue, when there won't be one.1. Any oc in their right mind would limit manziel from running up the middle, and instead get the quick outside (to out of bounds) runs to keep them honest.2, manziel isn't just limited  to running like some believe. This past season he proved he could be successful within the pocket.3. If he changed his style in college, he also could do the same in the pros.4. People talk about defenses being tougher, but they neglect to mention OL's are as well.5.he had a solid offense around him right? ...well, he didn't make them look ineffective or mediocre, which a bad qb might do. He made it work with good players around him, so why can't he do the same in the nfl?

I got what you were sayin. And its pretty common in the league. Coaches want to put their stamp on a guy, and make him better. Unfortunately, the reverse happens quite often. It takes a great coach to know when to leave a guy alone, and let him do his thing.  Schiano was the polar opposite of that method.  And its one of the reasons he is unemployed at the present time.Jerry Glanville [sp?] tried his best to mold Favre into the QB he envisioned him as. It was a disaster, he hardly played, and when he did, he would throw 4 passes with 3 interceptions. Ron Wolf saw something in Favre, and offered the Falcons a first for him. Jerry must have thought, holy fuck, this is highway robbery, those stupid azz Packers. And the rest is history.

There is a big debate going on about Manzeil.  Did Mike Evans make Johnny look better than he is?  Or did Johnny make Mike Evans look better than he is. I tend to lean towards the first option.

Still have to have a qb competent enough to get him the ball.Which he did.

True, but Mike Evans is a Vincent Jackson clone.  If I had to pick between the 2, it would be Mike Evans every time.
