Jets' Darrelle Revis hated his year with Tampa Bay BuccaneersDom Cosentino | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com July 22, 2015 That Sports Illustrated story featuring Darrelle Revis on the cover in a throwback Joe Namath pose is chock full of revealing details about the Jets' home-again cornerback. We already told you about the shot Revis took at former Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. But SI's Greg Bishop also got Revis to open up about his 2013 season with the Bucs, which is where Revis landed after the Jets traded him following his ACL injury the year before. It's safe to say Revis hated his time in Tampa. From the SI story, which ought to hit newsstands on Wednesday, but from which NJ Advance Media got a sneak peek:Revis never fit in Tampa. By his own admission his knee wasn't healthy. The Bucs started 0–8. Their Cover Two defensive scheme meant that Revis blanketed portions of the field more often than he did elite receivers, as had been his forte in New York. His lost season can best be summarized by the jersey Revis signed for one Tampa exec on the way out. "Thanks for letting me leave," he wrote. The story further notes that Revis' injury was worse than previously disclosed. In addition to the ACL, he also had to have microfracture surgery, which delayed his rehab. Microfracture surgery also sounds pretty severe—think the Texans and Jadeveon Clowney—but Revis has bounced back to be as good as ever, though he did tell Bishop he considered retirement, and that it took him until Week 4 or 5 of last season—after which he eventually won a Super Bowl with the Patriots—to feel 100 percent again. More from Bishop:In Tampa he'd concealed the doubt that consumed him—the way his leg fatigued in the middle of games, the interceptions he missed when his foot speed failed him. He compares it to playing a whole year hampered by Kryptonite.
