FSU coach doesn’t think Jameis Winston will enter 2015 NFL draftJameis Winston, Florida State’s Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, is widely expected to be the first pick in the NFL draft as soon as he’s old enough to enter the draft, in 2015. But Florida State’s coach doesn’t think Winston will leave school next year.Instead, Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher says, Winston will play two more years of college football and enter the 2016 NFL draft.“I expect Jameis to be here two more years,” Fisher said today.Give Fisher credit for having an optimistic outlook, but that seems awfully unlikely. Just as Jadeveon Clowney and Johnny Manziel probably would have entered the 2013 NFL draft if not for the rule requiring players to be three years out of high school before they can enter, Winston probably would have entered this year’s draft if he were allowed. There’s just no reason for a player who looks NFL ready — and Winston does look NFL ready — to risk injury while playing for free.Fisher might expect Winston to play for the Seminoles in 2015, but for the rest of us, it will be a major surprise if Winston isn’t in the NFL draft next year.

I "expect" to win the powerball tomorrow. Doesn't mean it'll happen.

He does enjoy the college life. He is playing baseball for the Seminoles too. It would probably be a good move for him to stay. But usually the lure of the almighty dollar wins out.

Jimbo's on crack and no it wouldn't be a "good" move for him to stay unless he regresses big time next year.

The way the NFL is now, he would be the starting QB from day one. So he better get all the experience he can, before taking on that kind of pressure. Its a lot to ask for a rookie QB, to jump right in and be the savior of a franchise.  Which is what would happen, because we can assume a QB deprived team will draft him.  Its doubtful he would make it to the end of the first round, where one of those teams could draft him and let him learn under their franchise QB.

And the next year he will be the savior again unless he is injured or has a terrible year and then he starts losing $$$$$$.  There is little benefit to staying in college that extra year if he is projected as a top pick.

Actually he did. This is all posturing.  He said it in front of an alumni group to get cheers.  Jimbo knows full well JW5 is leaving as soon as he is eligible.  This is the same as JFF "not sure" if he was declaring this year.  Was it really ever in doubt?

Jameis has said he wants to get his degree and play college football and baseball for 2 more years but i dont see it happening. its easy to say that until someone declares you the #1 overall pick and is showing you the millions you could be making. ill bet his tune changes after next season. if you are a Top 10 pick you dont go back to schoolJameis is a weird kid but i dont think Jimbo will let him stay and blow a shot at going that high in the draft. Matt Barkley was going to go #1 overall and he went back and ended up going in the 4th roundyou can always go back and finish your degree in the offseason, your window to being a high pick is very small

He can get his degree and I think he continue to play college baseball if he wants even if he is drafted/signs a pro football contract

hes ineligible to play college sports if hes on a Pro deal in any sport IIRC. not 100% sure because baseball plays by different rules than football though. its hard to do both because of the overlap of the seasons

He can get his degree, but almost 100% sure he cant play college baseball.  Not because of eligibility rules, but his NFL contract will almost assuredly have a clause in there about it.

I know kids have played pro baseball and still played college football, but not sure about the reverse.  You may be right about the NFL contract though.  Although Deion was allowed to play both pro baseball and pro football.
