The minute someone compares manziel to tebow, I have to question their knowledge, or if they even watched him play.

Yep. All expectations of a valid, educated debate immediately go out the window.

Actually, the comparison is more between their fanbases. But don't let that dampen your man zeal.

Yes, I don't understand how that point is being completely lost on some.

Yea they aren't the same player but where they are similar is their hype is off the charts and I'm not really buying it. I think Tebow did better than I thought he would getting that playoff win. It I think you give most of the credit to that defense that was very good that year. He did a good job limiting mistakes but that was about it. I think Manziel has a better ceiling and will actually look like a qb. I think his decision making needs to improve. Also as others have said his style will be tough to translate and he's not the biggest guy. Injury could be of concern.

Well, he played against very tough defenses through college. Not only survived, but excelled.I doubt there is much of a leap as some suspect. The "tough" part would be that of the oc, giving him plays that help his style of football. Then again, we could say that about any qb besides manning.

How do you look at this post and see a big difference between what you were saying about Manziel and what people were saying about Tebow? Pretty much everything you said about Manziel people were saying about Tebow.

Chace, I get why some folks are scared of taking JFF and think he will fail. I get it. This time of year everyone is obsessed with measurables and technique and footwork ect, ect....but in the end, all that matters is can you win? You look at guys like Romo, Garcia, Favre, Wilson, Kaepernick, RG3, Roethlisberger, ect.....and they rarely just drop back with great footwork and ideal throwing motion. Not everyone is going to be Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. There is no ideal mold at any position. You can either make things happen or you can't. Johnny is not "normal". He is not the right size and he doesn't just drop back 3 steps and release....but neither do a lot of great QBs. He is unorthodox, but he is ridiculously talented and he finds a way to win doing things his way. We can debate until we are blue in the face whether his unique style will translate to the NFL, and we probably will for the next several months, as will everyone else....but the truth is nobody knows. Nobody has the slightest idea. Whether it's Gil Brant saying JFF is the clear cut #1 pick and will be amazing, or it's Cosell saying he sucks....it's all just a big **CENSORED**ing guess. If you end up being right then you get to say I told you so and proclaim yourself a genius and if you are wrong you try not to talk about it until everyone forgets. That's how it works for all these guys and fans alike. That said, I think there is way too much potential for JFF to be amazing for us to pass on him. If he busts...so **CENSORED**ing what? Half our 1st round picks don't work out anyways. If you don't have a QB, and you pass on QBs that have astronomical potential because they are risky....then you deserve to stay at the bottom of the league. If we have a chance to take Johnny at #7 and we pass...then we deserve to continue to be the butt of many jokes that can't sell out a home game and hasn't won a playoff game in 12 years.

To put it simply, one QB has great accuracy and can make every throw.....the other was a FB playing QB that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. One uses his elite elusiveness to avoid defenders and run when nothing else is there....the other one mowed defenders down with brute force like the FB he was. One is unorthodox and hated by many for his lifestyle, but still an undeniably great quarterback prospect despite his negative stereotype.....the other was clearly never a real NFL quarterback and only built up to rockstar status because he was an ultra Christian virgin boy. I don't see any similarities that matter.

I get what you are saying, but still pretty much everything in your originally quoted post was what people were saying about Tebow.

I don't think any sane person thought Tebow was like Romo, Garcia, Favre, Wilson, Kaepernick, RG3, Roethlisberger, ect...

Definitely not the part you should have got from that... But you failed to include the rest of the part which actually is relevant to Tebow and Manziel which was "and they rarely just drop back with great footwork and ideal throwing motion. Not everyone is going to be Tom Brady or Peyton Manning." Anyways here are the other things that apply to both -"This time of year everyone is obsessed with measurables and technique and footwork ect, ect....but in the end, all that matters is can you win?""There is no ideal mold at any position. You can either make things happen or you can't. Johnny is not "normal". He is not the right size and he doesn't just drop back 3 steps and release....but neither do a lot of great QBs. Same exact things were said about Russell Wilson. RG3. Cam Newton. Doesn't mean any of them are like Tebow.

Didn't say they were alike, but they are comparable in a sense, obviously.

2nd rounder or late 1st to Cleveland. He's too small and has too many questions to go that early IMO.

And Russell Wilson is 5'11".
