Here, let me try. I do not think that Manziel and Tebow are particularly comparable players. For one, I think there's a reasonable chance that Manziel will succeed in the NFL,whereas I never really bought into Tebow as an NFL quarterback. But I'd still be tempted to reference Tebow in response to your post. It has nothing at all to to with them being similiar players and everything to do with my thinking that "he wins games" is a meaningless statement. Tebow won games in Denver too, but he was never given another starting nod. Why? Because anyone with eyes could see that he was a terrible NFL quarterback. They weren't particularly well-correlated facts, at least in the short run. (It was pretty much impossible for a non-homer to imagine that Tebow's play wouldn't catch up with him if he kept starting.)Similarly, if Manziel succeeds, I'm inclined to believe it will be because he does a good job playing quarterback. That'll be true even if he goes to the Browns and doesn't immediately start winning. Because "he wins games" is a meaningless statement. While there's no one position that factors more into a team's success that quarterback, there are still *far* too many variables for me to put much weight into it.
Its been said he compares to Jeff Garcia. Jeff Garcia:
Garcia mad.
I agree with Garcia on the first two tweets. The third one he is basically saying that he would only draft Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning with his first pick. I agree with that too. Too many questions about JFF.
I can admit that JFF does often give up on the pass and start scrambling too quickly. He will have to improve and try to be more like Russell Wilson at the next level...and less like RG3. However, I think he has shown great accuracy and anticipation when he does throw.
Also, Manziel has had 7 games with less than 10 rushing attempts and Texas A&M won all seven of those games. In those games, he had 1793 passing yards, 21 TD passes, and just 2 Ints. So the idea that he can't play from the pocket seems pretty foolish. He can obviously win without running and just needs to be coached up to run less.

Against who?
Doesn't matter. But your immediate reaction is to look for a way to discredit those numbers. No bias there though.....right?South Carolina, Auburn, Rice, Sam Houston, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and UTEP.

4 of games you can throw out because of the competition. That auburn game this year got the stuffing beat out of him.

2012 - South Carolina St. and Auburn.2013 - Rice, Sam Houston St., Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and UTEP.He forgot the state at the end of South Carolina.

What a great list in 2013.His team would have won four of those games with him throwing a pass or running the ball.

I don't think any sane person thought Tebow was like Romo, Garcia, Favre, Wilson, Kaepernick, RG3, Roethlisberger, ect...
Definitely not the part you should have got from that... But you failed to include the rest of the part which actually is relevant to Tebow and Manziel which was "and they rarely just drop back with great footwork and ideal throwing motion. Not everyone is going to be Tom Brady or Peyton Manning." Anyways here are the other things that apply to both -"This time of year everyone is obsessed with measurables and technique and footwork ect, ect....but in the end, all that matters is can you win?""There is no ideal mold at any position. You can either make things happen or you can't. Johnny is not "normal". He is not the right size and he doesn't just drop back 3 steps and release....but neither do a lot of great QBs. He is unorthodox, but he is ridiculously talented and he finds a way to win doing things his way.""We can debate until we are blue in the face whether his unique style will translate to the NFL"
If he doesn't understand what folks like Chace, you and me are saying by now, he doesn't WANT to understand the point.

Jd isn't always right, but the guy comes to logical conclusions w/explanations.In this case, regarding manziel, I think he's more right than wrong. I've watched jff play, and when most explain it, it's almost like they never actually watched him, because comparing him to rg3 or tebow suggest they are going the short route and comparing him to qb's he isn't at all alike.Other than his ABILITY to run, there is no comparison to tebow or rg. Point blank, and I'll keep saying it, he has a better arm than either of those two, and is much more smart.I see where you guys are going, but other than saying "he's a white guy that can run, like tebow!" there really isn't a whole lot to compare. Sorry, there isn't.
