Landon Dickerson was sitting right there at 32. We went with need over BPA and it bites us a few years later. Tryon was a round 2 grade by most draft analysts
Yeah, Dickerson or Humphrey would have been much better selections there. The Center position would be set for the next decade. Instead, they used a 3rd round on Hainsey who is now the starting Center. And he's struggling, to put it mildly.
JTS sucks. I was happy to see Bowles & Co. finally reducing his snap count.
They didn't even have to take Humphrey at 32. Just had to jump Kansas City at #63, which would have cost them a 7th round pick.
Then they took Darden right after Detroit took Amon Ra St Brown. Another small trade up would have made all the difference.

And, do you know for a fact that they didn’t try (in either cases)?

While that's true, I would prefer they take good players with their picks instead of selecting crappy players and then trading up later to make up for that poor selection.
JTS sucks. He was a project when they took him in R1 and he hasn't progressed at all. He's example 1,483 as why you don't draft need over BPA.

The Brady Bill
@bucswin31 - I hear you. I got killed for bringing it up too. But hey, there’s not a lot of football intelligence by these posters… just fans.

I know they didn't try because they didn't make a trade. There were 7 trades in round 2 and 8 trades in round 4. Don't sit here and try the bullshit argument that "hOw Do YoU kNoW a TeAm WoUlD hAvE tRaDeD". Just like in 2011 they could have had Watt if they wanted to, they just didn't want it bad enough.

There were obviously trades that were offered and declined on draft day, with the Pats offering a 2nd rounder for JimmyG being one notable deal that was offered and declined. The logic being applied here really is hilarious.

You're bringing up a player trade which isn't relevant to the conversation.
And as for Watt, he was the board at #10 and Washington traded it to Jacksonville for #16 and #49. Bucs were obviously going DE because they took Clayborn at #20 and Bowers at #51. If they had their DE board graded appropriately they would have trumped whatever offer Jacksonville was making to Washington for that pick. And I don't want to hear they couldn't have done it. They just chose not to.

So, in other words, you don’t know shit.
Thanks for confirming what we already knew, Mr. “I Get Paid The Big Bucks To Make Big Football Decisions”.

It’s a draft day trade that was offered and declined, one of many, a phenomenon you foolishly said didn’t exist. Don’t try to run from that foolishness now. Learn from it and move on.
Somebody that fashions himself a front office person would know trades are offered and declined on the reg on draft day.

You are precious.
JPP worked out for the Saints
not sure why we wouldn't bring him in as a rotational guy.
couldnt see how that would hurt the locker room
I am not sure what the staff sees in JTS. Hall is fine for what he is suited for but he was overhyped by PR staff.
But there is plenty of time as the season has many games left to play.
Isnt JTS sort of on his way out after that Titans game saw his back ups come in and perform?
Listening to Bowles he seems to favor Diaby because (unlike JTS) he is stout against the run and a decent pass rusher
