Arians said that the three Bucs that have gone on injured reserve during the season -- QB Blaine Gabbert, S Justin Evans, OL Zack Bailey -- are all done for the year. He said Evans will need another surgery on his other foot once he's done rehabbing from his current surgery.
Bruce Arians with good news today on CB Carlton Davis, who he said he expects will be able to play Sunday after missing last two games with a hip injury. OLB Carl Nassib, OLB Anthony Nelson, CB M.J. Stewart all ruled out.
Bucs safety Justin Evans has had multiple injuries to both feet. This year's Achilles/ankle surgery is separate from last year, which was the other foot. I don't know whether that injury last year is related to what Arians just mentioned as a second surgery on that foot.
Bruce Arians called Carlton Davis "our best corner," so getting him back means Bucs can go with Davis and Jamel Dean outside and Sean Murphy-Bunting at nickel vs. Saints. Ryan Smith is the top backup, potentially rookie Mazzi Wilkins next in line if he's active Sunday.
Having Nassib and Nelson out again means Bucs will lean heavy on Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul on Sunday vs. Saints. Barrett played 67/70 defensive snaps vs. Arizona, JPP 64/70. Only backups are veteran Sam Acho, rookie Kahzin Daniels; both made their 2019 debuts last week.
