I'd prefer a mobile QB that can take off and make things happen with his feet, but a game managing pocket passer is fine as long as he can make things happen on his own now and then. A safe, responsible game manager is fine, but he's gotta be able to make at least three outstanding plays per game and one of them usually has to be late in the 4th quarter. If your QB can't meet that criteria than I don't think you are ever going to a Super Bowl.
Everybody is bumping and starting threads about their late round QBs like Murray and Boyd and Carr....so bump. Draft Wenning.
no thank you Josh Johnson had better stats in college and where is he now? ill pass sorry
Lol. Great logic there bro. Can't argue that.
WHERE IS TIMMY CHANG WE NEED TO SIGN THAT MAN.
Wenning really only had one weapon at Ball State. Willie Snead. I like him too as a 7th round pick or an undrafted free agent....especially if we draft Wenning. Snead - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEwiNCrI6m0
Sorry, but I don't see anything in Wenning that we don't already have in Glennon (big arm, tall & immobile)....except for your "choke factor" which is impossible to quantify.College careers:Wenning (47 games): 26-21 W-L 1010-1605 (62.9 comp %) 11,048 yds 89 TDs 42 INTs 134.0 Pass Eff RatingGlennon (36 games): 20-16 W-L 646-1069 (60.4 comp %) 7,411 yds 63 TDs 31 INTs 132.3 Pass Eff RatingI'm not defending Glennon in any way, but to say Wenning is a clear upgrade over him...not buying it.

I think Wenning is similar to Glennon in many ways, so I'm not arguing your point of them being similar. However, Wenning made everyone around him better and he doesn't choke. Quite the opposite in fact. I'm not even saying he is a "clear upgrade over Glennon". I'm saying he looks like a very underrated pocket QB that could be a steal in the late rounds. If Glennon rises up and quits being a d-bag in the 2nd quarter of every game and outplays McCown and Wenning.....then maybe Wenning makes a great back up, which is still great value in the late rounds. If Wenning does out play Glennon in camp and preseason, then perhaps Wenning would get a shot as starter....or he ends up backing up our eventual franchise QB and Glennon is trade bait. In the end, it doesn't hurt to have another solid back up on the roster. Coach said we would carry three QBs. Wenning could be the 3rd QB and he has the tools to possibly surprise everyone. IDK man, Wenning in the 5th or 6th seems like a better idea than wasting a 2nd on someone like Garoppolo or Carr. Just my opinion.

Solid argument & I respect your opinion....but what do you think about Brett Smith out of Wyoming? He should be available around the same time (I made a post about him last week). I just feel that he is a better fit in Tedford's system & while not a definite upgrade over Glennon, he's definitely a completely different style of QB.
I wanna like Smith because he has the mobility I want in our QB, and I've been hearing a bunch of hype recently about him....but in all honesty man, I think he is awful. I've watched 9 of his complete games on draft breakdown, and I just don't get the love. I'm not saying you are wrong and I am right cause my opinion is no more important or correct than yours, but for me personally, I think Smith is awful. I think he is about the same as Jordan Lynch, just slightly bigger. Not an NFL quarterback imo.
We have enough backup QBs. No thank you.
clearly not cute enough
With the new unis, nobody is going to be cute.
He was never clutch in college either, so I really don't think it was Schiano.
Liar.
He blew the drive before that and was lucky to even get a second chance. Then his ass was saved on that last drive twice by a dropped interception and a PI penalty that extended the drive. You'd know it was not an example of being clutch if you has actually watched the game...but all you have is a GIF and and a myth. Try watching what really happened. I mean the guy threw a horrible duck that should have been intercepted but was dropped by two different defenders on the 2nd to last play! Clutch my ass! https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=7QXPb3WoNvI#t=512
