SR's latest Fab5 article hit it out of the park once again. We should all be thankful there is at least one journalist covering the Bucs that is not afraid to point out that the Emperor is not wearing any clothes. You can read the article for yourself, but here are some highlights which I hope generate some rational conversation:1. "I must admit I am concerned that the game has passed Smith by to a degree. It passed Herm Edwards by in 2008 with the Kansas City Chiefs. It passed Mike Shanahan by with the Washington Redskins in 2013." You're not the only one, SR. There are numerous examples that prove the point. Smith is hellbent on playing a Cover 2 defense when that kind of scheme will not work without a consistent pass rush, and we didn't consistently pressure the opposing QB all year. Therefore we gave up huge chunks of yards, especially on 3rd down. Lovie has to show he is flexible and willing to change when necessary. Hanging onto what worked in the past is only good if you're satisfied with a 2-win season.2. "Former Bucs head coach Tony Dungy was fired in Tampa Bay after a 10-6 record in 2001 after being too loyal to his assistant coaches and not making the necessary changes that the Glazers demanded. Smith may have to bite the bullet and make some changes to his coaching staff – even some changes he may not initially like or believe in."Let's start with Frazier. His old school scheme is pleasing to Lovie, but it obviously doesn't work. I agree with SR..........Marinelli would be a great choice.3. "An upgraded offensive line is one part of the equation, but so is adding more talented running backs that are capable of breaking tackles and making defenders miss. Charles Sims hasn’t demonstrated the ability to do that on a consistent basis yet, and Doug Martin has shown that shown that since his rookie season two years ago."Even with a strong passing game, the Patriots knew it was important to run the ball successfully, and look where they are. It's not either or.......both passing and running are necessary. And neither can be successful without a decent offensive line.
