Lets get a feel about what people think about these coaches on the current Bucs staff

Lets start with offense: I am not as down on Grizzard as many are because he is a rookie play caller. And he also has Thaddeus Lewis and Tom Moore to lean on. But what I do want to see Grizzard do better is play call variety as that is his big weakness so far as well as play call balance. It seems the offense has been ultra simplified to help out Mayfield during his struggles during the slump but I think it may be making things worse overall for the offense as defenses can predict what is happening. Thaddeus Lewis isn't all of a sudden bad QB coach because he is the one that helped Mayfield cut down on his turnovers over a year ago but they are coming back again. Bryan McClendon as a WR coach seems to be getting the best out of rookies WRs and I have no complaints with his performance so far. Skip Peete seems to perform as best as he can but his position goes as far as the OL and play calling goes. Can't hold him to fault truthfully. Carberry/Picucci have performed the best they can with all the shuffling on the OL. Peele seems to have all his TEs on point when they are blocking and helping the OL the most part. Stats say the Bucs are doing an even split with RBs of Irving, Tucker and White but that is mostly due to injury of Irving missing games. Still, shows that the Bucs are currently outgaining their opponents on the ground. But shockingly the Bucs passing offense is falling behind what the Bucs defense is surrendering to opponents. So, the conclusion I can come up with is that passing offense has to pick it up with the return of the WRs, and the defense has to slow down the pass. This final game is going to probably follow the trend of the last 8 games but that could change. Now to the defense... I didn't like the play calling of Bowles last season and the first half of 2026 was fine. But after the bye? Same problem I had with the play calling in 2025. You have two athletic LoS heat seekng safeties playing 2 high constantly which is not their strength. Winfield and Smith are scrappy underneath and they are become rusty as a result and it shows as they come up to make tackles now. I am not sure if I can hold Rapone to fault on that but the flipside is that these safeties overall regardless of who is back there tend to regress. Partly due to play calling/scheme but Rapone is running out of time to fix this. Moving to Kevin Ross which I think SR has discussed last year about CBs not understanding where to line up before the sticks when play off/quarters coverage. Well guess what? Same problem this year and Ross has not fixed this. Granted Ross is being handed another new NCB to integrate in the scheme 4 years in a row but at this point his boundary CBs are the biggest problem not understanding where the sticks are and how much cushion to give for quarters/off coverage. Ronde Barber has commented many times the Bucs CBs are lining up too far off to be playing zone. Zone defense doesn't mean it is prevent defense 100% of the time. You can play tight coverage in zone but it is not man defense. Normal off coverage is 5-10 yards but these CBs are playing 15 yards which is pitch and catch for NFL QBs with any decent arm strength. Strong has to find a way to have his guys keeping gap integrity but his unit can do only so much if the rest of the LBs and DBs do not flow into the gaps properly and make tackles. Foote and Caldwell have to do better but there is only so much they can do because ILB was not a priority for the team to address in the off season and the Bucs opted to go with Reddick as 1 year rental fix to play opposite of Diaby. And finally ST....Just start over lol. It is a longshot if this coaching staff stays together but in the event that it does happen I think the Bucs are looking at new secondary coaches for the safeties and CBs. That unit has the most draft picks and money sunk into and they are performing bad. OL and WR units have money and draft investment tied up but they are trending still in a direction that is positive overall. I can't say the same with the secondary although both rookies Morrison and Parrish show promise. Grizzard's future on offense isn't certain either but the flipside is if Arians and Moore are heavily involved in the team they can give an honest view if Grizzard has the chops or not. I was in favor of giving Thaddeus Lewis the OC duties because of his familiarity with Baker but you never know.

Bucs Coaching Staff Day of Reckoning 1/5/26. Time to clean house.

Hes going to “retire”.

You think he voluntarily walks from the new contract extension he just signed? He's a good guy, but I don't see that happening. I think he'll make the Glazers pay him off. And frankly, they should have to for making that dumb decision.

Something happened during the bye week.

Some similarities to 2008.

I do wish there was a specific bet I could make about the upcoming weekend. It would include three tiers.

The Bucs win easy. The Falcons win late on Sunday. The Bucs fire Bowles next week.

I know for sure the first two will happen. Hopeful for the third.

or god forbid this scenario, the Bucs lose because they are pathetic. The Saints win, the Bucs keep Bowles
