If you take Licht's comments at face value, one reason the Bucs drafted Trask was because they anticipated the need for an effective but inexpensive QB during this restructuring period. That plan worked . . sort of . . . because they got what they were looking for BUT with Mayfield. If his play continues they probably sign him, ending the need to draft a QB (unless one falls to them) . .. . SO (if that all play out) WHAT ARE THEIR TOP NEEDS IN 2024 and how do they fill them?

5) OLB (opposite Diaby)

Largely depends on if Bowles is retained, and if Evans is resigned. assuming both happen then I'd say CB,Edge,and iOL are the most pressing needs. with WR in the middle rounds to replace Godwin in 2025/26
If Evans is not retained then WR jumps to the top of the list as CG14 isn't able to make the offense run by himself with his reduced explosiveness.
Finally if Bowles isn't retained then needs on defense will largely depend on what scheme the new HC prefers to run, but I'd still say the needs are generally the same. I feel like CG14 should be a prime candidate to have his salary reduced, as his play does not warrant the 20 mil he's getting per year.
I would thin Evans is retained and Bowles, if the Bucs close the season strong.
Supposed to be a heavy QB draft, so if we are passing on that but others are not does that mean we have a good chance to draft a first round star at one of those positions?
