I am an optimist, and I'm excited about all these moves by Licht and the FO to improve the team for the upcoming 2024 season. However, my optimism is tempered somewhat by the fact the 2024 schedule is set and quite foreboding. But at least it's clear the Bucs will be competitive no matter which teams are on the schedule.

really depends.  this team was 4-7.  it was at a point that 98% of us were calling for Bowles head.

the team then went 6-2 in it's last 8 games including playoffs. The offense averaged significantly more in points per game.

if we resemble more of the 6-2 squad which one can hope that the team jelled better...then great.  Losing the offensive coordinator likely sets us back to learn a new scheme.

schedule looks brutal

best we can hope for in division is likely 4-2 with the falcons and Saints.  We went 4-2 in each of the last 4 years.

Home games that look pretty winnable include Washington, Las Vegas, and Denver.  The Eagles being a coin flip with 49ers and Baltimore looking like Ls.

road games that look pretty winnable include the Giants.  Dallas, Chiefs, Detroit, and Chargers looking pretty tough.

so at this stage, i got us 9-8 with a win over Eagles because quite frankly that's what we've been the last 2 years, a .500 squad.

let's see what the draft brings and any surprise moves or two. Because remember as impressive as the off-season has been, we simply brought back players we had last year which was good enough for .500 ball.  Whitehead is good addition but losing Davis hurts so until we see the complete picture hard to say we are an "improved" squad from 2023.

Well said, we managed a 9-8 record with a top 5 easiest schedule last year. I will not be surprised if some players who showed glimpses of being great don't play at the highest level we expect (McCollum, Mauch, Mayfield, Diaby,) will let the rest of the off season play out before we figure out how much better we got compared to our peers

We have to hope those young players keep improving, because that seems to be Licht's strategy.  Hang onto a handful of core veterans and flood the team with draftees and UDFAs.  Licht seems to once again be mostly staying away from using free agency.  Last year he picked up a couple of the bargain basement and this year it's pretty much the same.  He is paying Whitehead a fair amount to return to the Bucs.  But overall I think Licht is a little gunshy on the free agents and maybe overly enamoured with his ability to build through the draft.  Well, if it works out then it will prove to be a great strategy.  I mean dude if you can get starters and key contributors from every level of the draft and the UDFAs again then wow more power to him.  Other teams go out and sign guys.  We just sign our own guys. I'm a little bit from Missouri on this obviously, but if Licht can continue to get it done this way then wow he should be GM of the century.
