Lovie has the final call. He is obviously running the show now. The GM will have significant influence but Lovie has final say. Get over it, media. Ridiculous hearing the same question repeatedly asked, when you know the answer.
Goldson counts as $9M against the cap whether he is here or he is at home on his couch. No way we cut him. He'll be our starter in 2014. After that, he'll either restructure or he'll be gone.

I didn't say they'd cut him. I think they're going actively pursue trading options for Goldson.
I'd take a 7th for Goldson . Just to get his contract off the books.I do wonder if he'd have better success in the Tampa 2 however. That Schiano D really put safeties in a lot of tough situations.

He is gonna be a lot better in a cover 2 or cover 3 scheme. The problem then is that he isn't worth 8 or 9 million per year because most safeties look ok in those types of schemes.

Steve White said recently on a podcast that the two guys he worries about the most in the transition to Lovie's team are Goldson and Barron - not that both will be in trouble, but one of them will. He said he could be wrong, but that was his initial take. He was asked about Foster but downplayed it - said the guy has had terrible coaching as a pro and thought he would improve.

Barron and Goldson both fit better in the scheme but both don't fit well on the same team because they are redundant. I suspect Goldson on cost is the victim. Next year. The shame here is that if we'd not blown this much cash on Goldson we could be in the mix on a safety who is worth a lot of jack this year in Byrd and would do something to compliment what Barron does well
Barron is in no trouble....he's twice the player Goldson is at this point and he hasn't even peaked yet.
I really wish we'd start playing a 4-2-5 as our base defense with Barron as the safety/linebacker hybrid.

He would destroy in that scenario. I would love it.
