Hi Guys, Don't post much, but I thought this was interesting. Don't hammer me on it too bad if you don't agree. Just a thought.I kind of feel like Licht has tipped his hand on the first round pick. In the article, which I referenced below, while speaking about Glennon:" Licht said. "He'll get every chance to be the starter." At the same time, he noted that "you can't have too many good quarterbacks" and that they "want competition for Mike [Glennon]."This tells me that the possibility of the Bucs taking a first round QB is out. In our current position, with many needs, you don't draft a QB in the first round if you are going to throw him into a QB competition. You only draft a guy you think is ready to start. I know Lovie has been quoted as saying that there will be a quarterback left worthy of the 7th pick... I think that is smoke and he is just trying to tempt somebody to trade up later during the draft. With all this being said, I think we can look forward to drafting a QB in the 2nd or 4th round, while also adding another veteran. All this barring that we don't trade down and add another pick in the 3rd round. And we can all stop speculating about the Bucs taking Johnny Manziel or Blake bortles or Teddy... We need to start thinking more Garrapollo, McCarron, Carr....Not saying I agree or disagree... Just a thought for everyone. The article link is below if you wanna read. http://www.bucsnation.com/2014/2/26/5449618/buccaneers-are-very-happy-with-mike-glennon
Or the two of them together decided to intentionally take different positions so no one knows their strategy?Maybe?
A first round rookie isn't guaranteed to start so what Licht said hasn't tipped his hand.
Its not a bad theory, I think it doesn't rule it out though. When you think of a 1st rounder naturally, you think about all the times that player is going to start. I think ideally, you want the guy to be able to come in and dominate and that is your mindset. It's the norm however, to have the youngsters come in and sit on the bench for a year to learn though. I won't be shocked one way or the other come draft day... well... if we drafted a kicker I would be shocked.

While Im not a fan of drafting a QB in the first this year...if we do it better be to start. Worst case scenario is using #7 on a QB who cant beat out Glennon.
I think all of the smokescreens and games played by coaches and GMs is fascinating. I think that the Glazers were better at this than that last GM and two coaches we had. Somehow they have been able to keep a new logo and helmet design under wraps and I haven't seen a peep about the new jerseys. Last year the Revis deal was the worst kept secret in football.
I don't think this is a year that we can afford to use a first round draft pick on a guy we plan to let sit the bench...
New rookie salaries suggest teams don't feel forced to start players because they are making obscene amount of money in the top ten.
who knows?

Agree...the money makes it easier to sit a 1st rounder than in the past, but where our team stands right now...we need our 1st/2nd round picks to be on the field if not more. Drafting your backups early is a luxury we dont have right now.
Depending on what happens during FA and with the Texans first pick, I really could see the Bucs trading up to 2 if they think their guy is there.
who knows?
Mason Foster.

Mason Foster.
He does. Said so himself once.

Foster could probably play QB for us.
