Sounds like BOTH lines may be blown up. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole offseason agenda is only to rebuild up front on both sides of the ball. As exciting as a QB or Watkins would be, it would be hard for many to be disappointed with this approach.

He was a 1st round pick. Absolutely he has underachieved. His pass rush has not been acceptable. We need more from him.

Take the franchise LT and draft a DE in round 2 - Trent Murphy, Scott Crighton. Maybe Dee Ford or Kony Ealy will drop? I like both Josh Mauro and James Gayle later on. And yes, Michael Sam in the 4+ rounds.
That all sounds great in theory but if teams find out that they can run the ball at will, that's exactly what they will do. Does the 12-8-08 MNF game against the Panthers ring a bell? Talk about a hopeless feeling. Both Kiffin's final Bucs teams and Morris' teams were pretty much that way. Schiano didn't do much else but at least he finally gave the Bucs a respectable run defense.
The run defense at the end of 2008 was a case of Jovan Haye and Chris Hovan being injured at the same time (Jimmy Wilkerson and Ryan Sims were playing DT vs Carolina) and the clock striking midnight on Kevin Carter and Brooks.
Clayborn had a very nice rookie season. He was disruptive, had 7.5 sacks, and forced 3 fumbles. Not sure what more is expected from a rookie DE.His second year he played 2 full games and went on IR for a torn ACL. So last year was his return from that ACL and he was pretty good with 6 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. He was also 4th in the league in TFL with 18. I think it's fair to say he should be better this season with a full year between him and his ACL injury. Not everyone bounces back from an ACL immediately like Adrian Peterson. I think Adrian will have to earn his starting spot, which is great, but I think he will earn it and be very good in 2014.

From Undertackle ? Maybe - unlikely but maybe. From Nose or End ?? No way in hell he's the best pass rusher available.What if a frog had wings ??You can "what if" anything. What if we we make the pick and he becomes another Booger MacFarland or Brian Price - a talented player , but an impactless Nose-tackle in our scheme ? We've seen this story before , and it doesn't end like the NoseTackle Nobgobblers think it will.Give me a lunchpail guy like Chartric Darby , and find me elite edge rushers instead. That is where the impact will be.
Lovie agrees with me on Clayborn clearly. It's time to call him out . 6 sacks doesn't cut it from a RE in a Tampa 2.
I look at the DTs during Lovie's time with the Bears, like Tommie Harris, Tank Johnson, Israel Idonije, Henry Melton, Stephen Paea, Amobi Okoye....and I think it's pretty obvious he wants both DTs to pass rush. Some folks just can't grasp it.

Not hyperbole at all my friend. They had Clayborn playing a lot of LB last year and it was ridiculous. Clayborn's first tweet when Lovie was hired, was "Can't wait to put my hand in the dirt full time again"
