To me, it all depends on just exactly who is letting them know that their production is insufficient. If it is Schiano, then I am outraged! What a horrible tyrant he must be. If it is Lovie delivering that same message, then I am well pleased. What a great coach and wonderful human being he must be.
I've thought about this quite a bit as well - perception on this is funny. Raheem called guys out publicly a lot, and was considered reckless and immature for it.
True. Raheem 'didn't know how to handle the press.' A large part of that perception was his own fault though.
I did not mind when those coaches called out players, but just like anything else in life Lovie's record and connection to the former Bucs gives him the credibility to call out players, not to mention the Bucs sucking before Lovie. Morris had no record and Schiano the same, really. Probably unfair, but . .
We shall see more when 94 isn't asked to run around 3 or 4 gaps prior to trying to get up field on every other play.
I never had a problem with Morris calling out players because I can't recall any instances it wasn't justified. Morris' problem was his praising of players was usually not grounded in reality, i.e. "I dare someone to criticize Michael Clayton now" and "I call [Quincy Black] big cheetah".
Tell em Lovie... We need an edge rusher.
Yeah we do. I mean we were 32nd in the league on offense. If that doesn't scream use your highest pick on defense, I don't know what does. We offensive help, anywhere, just help the offense cuz it's really bad.
I doNT think Clayborn sucks , but I'm totally on board with letting him know that his current pass rush production ain't gonna cut it. Get better or get lost.
at the same time, did clayborn make a statement that he thought he had a great season?

So players should not have their play judged and critiqued, just as long as they dont put out a statement talking about how good their season was? That would be like someone a year ago coming up with a statement say that its put up or shut up time in 2013 for Freeman....then replying with, "well, since when has Freeman ever said he has been great?"
Tell em Lovie... We need an edge rusher.
But DaQuan Bowers promised us he would be our double-digit sack guy...... No need to address the position.
By his very own account, Clayborn is a fail as a DE. Didn't he say double digits is the goal?He set the bar for himself. And he is not getting it done consistently. But he was robbed of one sack...remember that?Bull rap ref blew that call.

I'm sure Lovie is believing much in that fat turd. He'll have to finally prove that he's worth a damn.

Just as long as it doesn't cut into his music career...

Funny what a difference a few years of playoffs and a superbowl appearance can make. It's almost like credibility matters or something....
You can't call a player out one day and then flying chest bump him when you go out partying in South Tampa that night...

i think we are after different points. i dont believe that clayborn needs his play judged in the media - he needs it judged in the filmroom and face to face. if clayborn knows his play wasnt up to par then why does his coach need to add to it?
