I honestly think you can say anything you want and people will level themselves into thinking it's a smokescreen or it's reality. I don't doubt the Bucs would want to improve at QB but I do not believe they would announce their intention to take a QB at 7 if they had any type of specific plans.
Ah, I see the plan now....Lovie wants 6 teams ahead of him that will select a quarterback and that will push Clowney down to us!!!Brillant! :PSeriously though, I think this is 80% smokescreen and 20% fire. If a quarterback that we rated highly IS there at #7, you have to consider it, but if you can get someone to jump over you and take a quarterback that just pushes another player down the stack, maybe the one you really want.#Gamesmanship
Or they are looking to upgrade the 34th best starting QB in the NFL. Weird...
That's why I used the word "probably." I don't like carr either, but glennon isn't special. You're the one who threw his name out there. There are other qbs in this draft fyi.
I understand there are other QB's in the draft. But aside from TB or JFF, I don't want to take that risk at #7. I seriously think you, along with others, would be absolutely ecstatic to take the 4th best quarterback with the 7th overall pick.
Taking a QB at 7 would probably mean Carr, and I dont think thats the best way to make the team better.
in a linear draft, I agree. Carr is at best a late first rounder.BPA all way!
If JFF, Bridgewater or Bortles are there the team should definitely consider taking them at 7. Trading up for one of these guys isn't worth it to me Robinson, Mathews, Watkins, or Clowney will be there at 7 if those 3 Qbs are already picked.
All good points Red, (although I am not a big fan of Bortles personally)I think this year will be the last year for quite some time the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be picking in the top 10. So investing in a QB (even moving up) NOW has to be given a lot of consideration.
You make the world think you want a QB. Every team behind you that wants a QB overpays to trade up for a QB ahead of you and pushes the guy you actually want down to you. Lovie wants Matthews or Robinson I'm thinking. A bunch of people are gonna be butthurt when Glennon is our starter this season. Those same people will love Glennon by the end of the year and claim they liked him all along and were just wanting the coaches to be thorough.
Rick Stroud ?@NFLSTROUD Smith says Mike Glennon can make every throw. As a rookie player to see improvement and know you can win is a good thing. Rick Stroud ?@NFLSTROUDSmith says he always thought you need more than one running back. Doug Martin can carry the load but you need more. Rehab is good. Rick Stroud ?@NFLSTROUDSmith says the offensive line didn't play very well last year. He says they didn't live up to the money they are being paid. Rick Stroud ?@NFLSTROUDSmith: We're disappointed in some of the off field issues. We won't put up with it, it's a simple as that." Rick Stroud ?@NFLSTROUD #Bucs coach Lovie Smith: "We're a 4-12 football team...we've got a lot of work to do.EDIT: I added these to the OP
Well... I don't have a magic eight ball - But this is probably Tedford's only shot at getting his guy. (I think it might be Garoppolo personally.)

Mike Williams? or something we haven't heard of yet...uh oh spaghettio's...

Not a smoke screen. You dont say publicly that your current QB isn't a franchise guy and that you want to replace him with an upgrade unless you mean it. Otherwise you just created a huge divide and put a strain on your relationship with your starting QB.

He was referring to MW19. Not sure why b4e left that part out. My tweet showed Mike Williams.
May not be posturing, but who behind us in the draft really needs a QB?
He did also say "What is a franchise guy?" ...I believe if they have an opportunity to get their guy at QB - they won't hesitate.
