Just doing a quick look at FSU before Winston and after. Before Winston became the starting QB in the two years prior, FSU ammassed a record of 9-4 and 12-2 for a winning % of 71.4%.With Winston at QB FSU amassed records of 14-0 and 13-1 for a winning % of 96.3%That is a massive difference of 28.6% improvement while Winston was at the helm.Now looking at Mariota, he compiled records of 13-2, 11-2 and 12-1 as a starter for a winning % of 86.2%But in the two years prior to Mariota starting, the Ducks acquired a record of 12-2 and 12-1 for a winning % of 87.5%. So Mariota actually had a 1.2% lower winning % as QB then the two years prior.Breaking it down further, before Winston got there EJ Manuel was the starter at FSU and he was drafted in the second round. Prior to Mariota Oregon had Darron Thomas who declared early and went undrafted.As we can see, the Oregon system predicates success while the pro system at FSU does not. In fact EJ Manuel was a 5th year senior when he went 12-2. In my opinion, the Oregon system will continue to produce consistent results while the pro style system at FSU is just like an NFL offense which requires a supremely talented QB in order to succeed. There is much debate about whether Mariota can succeed at the pro level. In my opinion he has a very slim chance because of these reasons.1 - He is a read option QB.2- He has never taken snaps under center.3- He has never been in a huddle.4 - He tends to take off running prematurely.5 - His down field accuracy is very low %.6 - He is not a vocal leader. 7 - He could not muster better results than Darron Thomas.In fact, Derron Thomas was down in a few big games and he was able to rally his team to victory, while Mariota has shockingly never mounted a big comeback victory. When your team is down you need a QB who is a fearless, vocal leader who will rally your team to victory. The results clearly show that Jameis Winston is that guy and Mariota is not.
