I said that the Bucs would be stupid to pick a WR at 7. Especially a guy who isn't mega-anything. But he is a nice player. Just not an elite prospect, IMO. QB is the problem. Time to upgrade in the Lovie era.
Pepsi: "This is reminiscent of the time almost the whole board argued with me when I said justin Blackmon isn't in that company either and shouldn't be taken as a top 10 pick. Or when the entire board gave me crap because I said Trent Richardson isn't even the best RB in his draft class let a lone a top 10 pick. Here we go again.."Yeah, remember that time when it was two or three guys and you thought it was the whole board?

Blackmon has been far more limited by his inability to stay on the field than he has by any physical shortcomings.
But would you have drafted Blackmon in the top 8 or get someone who compliments the team better and gets open consistently like Kendal Wright who you could have gotten way later and acquired picks. That was my argument that year and Wright just had 94 receptions. This year the options are even better. I wouldnt draft a receiver in the top 10 unless they project to be unstoppable. Green and Calvin Johnson are the only receivers in the last decade that looked like they could come in the NFL and be unstoppable. Otherwise pass on Watkins and draft Beckham, and youd get a receiver who's just as fast or faster, better in the return game or just as good, and has better moves in the open field. Watkins gives you a more physical run after the catch guy but you'd miss out on a premier defensive player or Olineman. Wait till the second round and you can get both.
Again, Blackmon's problem is he is a headcase. When he's on, he's exceptional and much better than Kendal Wright.

+1
I don't think he'll even make it to 7....
I don't think he'll even make it to 7....
We can only hope. And then pray we take him.
If Sammy is there at 7, we could get a kings ransom for our pick. Which should tell you why we should take him.
I've been saying this for a while.
He is a faster Roddy White. What's not elite about that? If Watkins is gone then Mike Evans needs to be the pick. For all the Johnny Football lovers out there Johnny ain't Johnny without Mike Evans.
