“It’s not excuses, it’s just we lost a coordinator to start the season,” McCown said. “We’ve fought our way through that for 16 weeks, almost 17 weeks. Just that in that of itself can help a team, just an extra guy up stairs working with those guys. There are things that obviously… we don’t make excuses, but there are things that we can point to and go, ‘Man, just that alone, that may help us improve. Just an added person.’ When everybody’s workload gets split, that just makes it tough, and those guys have never made an excuse. But the reality is, when that happens, it’s hard to be at your best.”
Ouch.
