When it comes down to him or Jared Allen, you're betting on Bennett's ceiling going UP!
I'm assuming Allen will be cheaper and is more skilled for our need.
I don't know how many LDE we can have on one team without a legit RDE. We really need to invest in a speed rusher who can get around the edge. Bennett is not that guy.
Im down.
Allen is far better.
Yay lets pay an above average DE who is willing to leave the superbowl winning team for more money.Sounds like a good investment.
Not too surprised. The only reason he left in the first place was because of Schiano. Now that he's gone, I'm sure he'd love to play here under Lovie and Leslie.

Can either Allen or AC play from the left side of our defensive line? Seems like Allen is predominately RE. I can't think of anything other than obvious passing situations (and rare in that situation) where I've seen Jared line up at LE. Has AC taken any snaps at the NFL level on the left? Neither of those players, to me, project very well at left end. A position we know that Michael Bennett plays well against run and pass. That's my biggest "problem" with going after Allen (and a couple other fa DEs). Seems to me we would be replacing our better defensive end, and not really filling the "need" at the position.
Bring him in. As long as 'the right price' isn't too much.

The rest of our d-line considered him a brother it seemed. If we can shell out a couple extra million than Seattle I think he comes.

I always laugh at your GIF of Revis intercepting that pass. Such a stupid play on 4th down. We would have had the ball around their 10 yard line.

Clayborn played LE a lot this year

4realz? Damn I'm slipping. How'd he look?

Looked like Clayborn. Violent, disruptive. Not the best pass rush. If Allen can come get 12 sacks, Clay will have to go LE or rotational. It would be different if he produced more

My concern was his ability to set the edge against strong side running plays. That and I thought (stupidly I'll admit) that his physical disorder left him "weaker" theoretically as a left end.

Huh? It was the end of the game and Wallace was right there to put them in FG range with over a minute left.
