That isn't what I said. I said it was likely to make teams pay more attention to him. Right now he's slated as a 3rd/4th round pick, but this could cause teams to look more closely at him on the tape instead of concentrating on Ealy.
Fine. I think that is idiotic as well.
Congratulations. Now he'll get to go to VIP events for free and become best friends with the President & First Lady and gain hundreds of thousands of Twitter/Facebook/Instagram followers.
Don't HATEKudos to him for having the guts to come forward and those who taunt/ridicule him don't have near the strength he does. Having said that, dude shoulda got his money first.
I'm not hating. I don't care that he's gay. So what? Why is it so necessary to have a sit down interview to announce it on national TV? Live your life! Guess what? I'm a black teenage father, now 28, widowed with a 10 year old & twin 8 year olds...Let me call Oprah!
I'm honestly ashamed to be a member of a website that includes bigots like you people.
Doesn't take much strength to post nonsense from behind a computer. No different than the drunks that will be shouting nonsense from the stands.
In 10 days, the NFL will descend on Indianapolis for the Scouting Combine, a year after multiple incoming players reportedly were asked about their sexuality. For one of the players attending this year’s Combine, the answer has been provided without the question being asked.Missouri defensive end Michael Sam has come out as gay, capping a football season that began with Sam sharing his sexual orientation with his teammates.“I just want to make sure I could tell my story the way I want to tell it,” Sam told the New York Times. “I just want to own my truth.”The SEC co-defensive player of the year struggled at the Senior Bowl with a move from defensive end to linebacker. He’s still regarded as a third-round prospect.“I’m not naive,” Sam said. “I know this is a huge deal and I know how important this is. But my role as of right now is to train for the Combine and play in the NFL.”It will be difficult for Sam to focus on that role, at least in the short term. Instantly, his name will take on a Manzeillian magnitude at the Scouting Combine, with Sam’s press conference destined to be as busy as Manti Te’o’s session in 2013.The media then will shift its focus to whether Sam’s declaration will help him or hurt him. Ideally, it will have no impact. But we’re not naive, either. Some coaches, General Managers, and/or owners will be inclined to shy away from being the first locker room to welcome openly gay player, even if none would ever admit it.For that reason, Sam took a courageous path. (Outsports.com tells the story of how Sam made the decision to come out now.) He could have kept it hidden until after he was drafted. Instead, he opted (as he has said) to own his truth. And now whoever drafts him will be selecting — and accepting — Sam for who he is.At a time when NFL teams seem to be obsessed with avoiding distractions, here’s hoping that someone will see this as an opportunity to help get sports to the point where having an openly gay player isn’t regarded as a distraction. Ideally, here’s hoping that Sam ultimately is picked because he can help a team win games.

Scouts knew already.
Super proud of Sam for announcing it and doing it before the draft. That takes guts, especially with the close minded people who will have something to say about it at some point. He will be a fine player, 3rd or 4th rounder who will be a nice rotation guy. If he is there in the fourth I say go get him, he's better than Ealy.
Can he get to the QB and be at least a solid contributor on the field? That should be only thing that matters, really.

That's all I care about.Who he sees on his spare time doesn't matter to me.
Seriously, good for him. Anyone who doesn't think that took an unbelievable amount of courage is an idiot and anyone who doesn't thing this is a big moment is also an idiot. I hope he absolutely balls out like crazy in the league. Also, I think it is awesome that he told his teammates and coaches at Mizzou and none of them took issue with it or said anything negative about it. This is a great story.
I bet he can't wait to get to the NFL and get his hands on the tight end....

Should be, but won't be.I don't know what its like in the locker room. But if you told me that there were a few NFL locker rooms that were more anti-gay then others, I wouldn't be shocked. And those teams will pass on him, and they probably should.
I bet he can't wait to get to the NFL and get his hands on the tight end....
I'm sure he'll get just as aroused as you do when you hug your sister.
I hope the NFL does AIDS testing on him every 6 months or so....
