Best WR in buccaneers history final season in Tampa?
im torn.
important to focus on the present and future. No question.
but it’s undeniable his impact on this franchise. Future HOF & buccaneers ROH member.
stay tuned!
We are going to suck for the rest of this decade. The only thing we can root for our fan favorites
if they are smart businessmen, you bring back evans at all cost.
reward him for his unselfishness
When you get cute and think you can replace a HOF, you end up with Russell gage
learn Bucs front office, don’t be stupid
Great guy great player , but I’m not breaking the bank on a new contract . Bucs have made him a rich rich man .
This wins Worst Post of the Month. So you know the Bucs will suck for the next seven years? That's great. But you don't put fans in the stands to watch a veteran player. They aren't going to buy tickets because Mike Evans is there, not if the team sucks. If there's a rookie QB on a rebuilding squad that's another thing, but you say they will suck for seven years. Then obviously they're not rebuilding. They're just stringing together one bad team after another in your view.We are going to suck for the rest of this decade. Second, you don't pay players for past performance. You pay for future performance. Paying for past performance is a good way to ensure you'll be a losing team, and I guess you are saying that since we are going to suck anyway don't even bother trying to win.
Third, if we are going to suck for seven years, why does Evans want to be around for that? I'm pretty sure if he felt like you, he'd be high tailing out of here on the first plane out of town. He may love Tampa Bay, but he doesn't like playing for losing teams. If you told Evans "Hey we're going to pay you what you want because the fans love you, but just be aware our team is going to suck for a few years so I hope you don't mind being the best player on a sucky team." Pretty sure he'd decline that generous offer.
So all in all, you win Worst Post. Congratulations!
I'm in the camp of - he constantly was underpaid his entire time here so he deserves to be slightly overpaid despite his age.
Don't make the same mistake we made with Sapp, Brooks, and Lynch.
Sign Evans and make it work at the end of the season.
All the stupid moves Licht has made in FA and now he wants to get frugal?
Fuck that shit.
Easy no for me
Evans is believed to be seeking a deal similar to the three-year, $80.1 million contract signed by Rams receiver Cooper Kupp that included $75 million guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus
3 year deal at that is perfectly reasonable to reward a Buc lifer that has been nothing short of a great teammate for his entire stay.
No drama. Just produces every year.
Glad you aren't in charge

Agreed
Its like some of these posters haven’t been a fan for too long….
rebuild? Lmao. Do they even know the franchise they are a fan of. Brady was a 43 year old free agent signing and is easily our best QB in franchise history that spans nearly half a century, with us for a measly 3 years
You give evans 25 million a year for 3 year deal and you be damn happy about it
The peak age for a WR ranges from 23 to 30. Some receivers do continue to produce into their 30s. Marvin Harrison caught 95 passes in his 11th season and it went down from there. Julio Jones tailed off after nine seasons. Randy Moss was done after 12 seasons, Steve Smith was the iron man who was productive through 14 seasons. Kupp is 30 but has only played 6 seasons. He's already injured, so as good as he is I think the team may not get their moneys-worth out of him. The way he plays invites injuries, similar to Godwin. He takes a lot of hits. Kupp will never earn that money IMO.
So all that being said, I think Evans can produce 1000 yard seasons for the next two or three years (so three years would be two years into a new contract) depending on the QB play. I think the agent should come down a little, particularly on the guaranteed money in that third year. Evans is somewhat of a possession receiver and it's reasonable to think he'll produce for the next two or three years. Beyond that I wouldn't gamble on that.
Obviously, the Bucs have been stung by the Jensen deal because of the guaranteed money they now have to swallow. So I understand the hesitation, but that's the nature of it. Don't pay Evans just because he's Evans. Pay him because you think he'll produce to the level of what that pay indicates. I think, for two or three more years he'll be productive.
If Evans goes onto the open market, he'll get his money. That's for sure. But if it's three years of guaranteed money I don't know that they'll get what they pay for.

No doubt Bucs will try to win but it's an uphill battle. We needed the greatest player of all time to be a playoff contender in over a decade drought of trying to rebuild with two picks used on first round QBs You sign evans to a 3 year, 75,80 million deal before his sep 9th deadline or you are absolutely right, he will choose playing with mahomes in KC over us after a 3-14 season no doubt. He's being very reasonable with us and he's giving us one last chance to come to our senses And as fans who have the #13 jersey, you are damn right some fans will come to the game to see their favorite player at 3-14 and now affordable tickets versus going 3-14 with trey Palmer as his replacement While I'm simply projecting a shit future given the franchise history, as we don't know, evans is still productive and worth $25 million a year. If anything, you give a young QB a fighting chance to succeed
Glad you aren't in charge
Consider the source.
Same idiot who thinks White is worth multiple 1st rounders.
Ok so let's pay Jensen for 3 years and get literally nothing out of it...
But arguably the best Buc all-time we let walk?
You don't compound one mistake with another and if Licht does this, it will have a major negative effect on the culture.

it would be a huge hit to the fan base. The fact he’s still performing at a high level too
And signing Jensen to a bad contract and drafting Hainsey anyway, and skipping on Creed to draft a backup qb.
Licht is so hit or miss. A genius at moments and a moron at others
Sign him or trade him I guess if he doesn't want to be here long term. Get a few first round picks from a team trying to win a super bowl if you can't get it done. I'm on the side of keeping him a buc for life because of his selflessness and been a great buc. I think he's one of the best bucs of all time and they need to treat him like one. Otherwise if you just can't get it done maybe see what you can get for him.
