He want to be here but he’s playing at a discount now for at least 3 years
He’s not even the highest paid WR on the team
clowns like Kirk get $20 million a year
evans value is at $25 million and you give him anywhere from 3-5 years and call it a day
this is a no brainer for Bucs and even if it backfires in year 4 or 5, you get a pass from the fans and a thank you to Mike for being the model football employee he is
evans is not being unreasonable here
I think 25 million for 3 years is reasonable. Whatever, they need to find a way to keep him. The one player they need to be pumping the brakes on is Winfield. Great player , but hurt again. Evans has never been seriously injured and he brings a lot to the team.
I would extend him because if Godwin goes down with another injury who do you have left? Plus, Gage's money will be off the books soon so that works out.
what a bullshit from the FO, they are going to make another mistake
you simply got to keep mike and lavonte as long as possible, they are now what mike, derrick and ronde were on our first SB team.
Pre-draft April 2023, I said they should harvest him for picks. Rip the bandaid off - this season needed to be a full rebuild. Toss away high-priced old guys. Response here was he needs to play his entire career here. Why? Sapp didn't, Lynch didn't, Dunn didn't. There's no golden rule that it needs to happen that way.

you get Caleb Williams next year in a rebuild, is it not great for his young man’s career to have mike evans to throw too. # checkmate
How will the Bucs get Caleb Williams when the Cardinals [TANKING] will have the first pick in the draft?
Why I'm team Mike: with how irresponsible and borderline awful Licht has been in the cornerstone FA signings (and there's a ton out there) it pisses me off that of all people Mike Evans yet again has to take one for the team to stay here.
Just pay him for 3 years at a premium and live with results... fans will give it a pass.
Teams that constantly trade aged talent for new picks, unless they already have an amazing culture, will fail to build any culture.
Colts and Cards (Texans pick) will get 2 and 3 and they'll trade out if someone wants a QB. The best the Bucs could do even if they suck this year is get the 4th pick and try to trade up two spots to get to Drake Maye. That's going to cost a 1st round pick from the next year. Caleb Williams is a pipe dream. Best case realistic scenario for the tanking fans is two firsts for Drake Maye. How will the Bucs get Caleb Williams when the Cardinals [TANKING] will have the first pick in the draft?
The point we are missing here is that the QB of the future can benefit greatly throwing to evans.
he should be part of the rebuild
Is that what Evans wants? To be part of a rebuild? I think we are assuming he wants to be a Buc through thick and thin. But his agent came out and said "Mike wants to be with an organization who wants him and wants to win a Superbowl..." Well we are talking about a three year contract and you are rebuilding with a new QB in year one of that contract? Sure maybe by the time year three rolls around you are contending again, but I think you are taking a big leap to think Evans wants to stick around to help rookies learn how to blow their nose as opposed to spending a couple years on a contender. The point we are missing here is that the QB of the future can benefit greatly throwing to evans.
he should be part of the rebuild
If you think the Bucs are going to break it down and rebuild, don't assume Evans wants to participate in that.
Pre-draft April 2023, I said
You also said the Bucs would be the biggest joke in the league after signing Brady.
That worked out well for you, LPN.
Saw something that said it's the glazers holding it up. Evans and his agent aren't putting on licht or the bucs but on the glazers. They need to open up the checkbook for Mike one of the best most loyal team players they've ever had. Look to that to not happen as often if they don't open up for that.
Glazers banking on Super Bowl win for “goodwill”
That was his agent calling on the Glazers to intervene and seconded by SR. I don't think this is about the amount of money. It's about the salary cap space. By calling on the Glazers to override Licht is like a kid not getting what he wants from Mommy so he goes and asks Daddy. Licht doesn't want to guarantee all that money, so they're trying to get the Glazers to do it.Saw something that said it's the glazers holding it up. Evans will be 31 with 10 years at the start of his new contract. And he wants 3 years mostly guaranteed. In 2026 he'll be 34 in his 13th year and frankly he probably won't be that productive by then. $25 to $30 mil is too much to push into that year. Licht has to stop the bleeding on these contracts that push so much money into future years when players are not even playing. Ideally, the money should go to the players who are producing that year. The Glazers should stay out of it and let Licht do his job. If Evans needs to have three years mostly guaranteed then he'll have to get that elsewhere. Give him two years guaranteed and the third cuttable year. That takes him through 2025. That's all he should get.
