Why I'm team Mike: with how irresponsible and borderline awful Licht has been in the cornerstone FA signings (and there's a ton out there) it pisses me off that of all people Mike Evans yet again has to take one for the team to stay here.

Just pay him for 3 years at a premium and live with results... fans will give it a pass.

Teams that constantly trade aged talent for new picks, unless they already have an amazing culture, will fail to build any culture.

Godwin, Mayfield (maybe), Wirfs, Devin White, Winfield Jr all getting paid eventually. If Mayfield isn't signed, a higher priced FA QB will be. Not enough money to go around. Evans needs to be harvested.

Trade him , should get a decent pick back , no more than a second . But he is on the wrong  side of 30

he was awesome for the Bucs over the years , but paying someone for their past , is a good way to waste money

Pennywise wtf is wrong with you? Seriously...

Anyone advocating to trade Evans for picks should just surrender their fan card.

Jfc... Evans has done nothing but take team friendly deals for years... HIS ENTIRE CAREER.

Dude deserves to get a 3 year deal at a little higher than he should.

And if that means we gotta learn to draft better and not sign players like Gage and Jensen to bad contracts... so be it.

Keep him and preserve the culture and leadership.

3-14 for sure with all the dissension on the team, Evans and White crying for money, horrific O-line, no edge rushers, no QB, no RB, too many rookies, nah, this organization is on the steep downfall.

Monopoly money to some of you

Bucs owe Evans nothing , they have made him very wealthy , to the tune of 85 million to date .

Remember a guy name Tom Brady?  He didn't finish his career with the same team.  Evans is in the same position.  He'll be better off going to a team who is all in on a Superbowl.  That team will be the one mortgaging the future for the present, like the Bucs did during the Brady era.  That's what you have to do sometimes to take that last step.

Licht can't throw a three year mostly guaranteed contract at him when in all probability he won't be able to perform at a high level for the next four years, this year plus three more future years.  The Bucs aren't in the position to do that right now.

Evans has always gotten paid by the Bucs.  He's restructured, but he hasn't taken less money.  So the Bucs don't owe him anything monetarily. He deserves his next contract, but it probably won't be from the Bucs.  He'll play hard this year, because he's a class guy and a team player.  That's how he rolls.  Don't worry about that.  And he'll be in the Ring of Honor some day as well as the HOF.  But after this year, he'll probably be playing for another team for the next couple of years.

Signing evans is for QB development.

you don’t think mahomes having Kelce and hill helped his development?

yeah great idea let’s have rookie QB, mayfield go at it without evans and Godwin to throw too, then wonder why they don’t work out.

evans made Winston look like a QB with potential, now the guy can barely be a #2

Brady looked roast in 2019, then looked what happened in 2020,2021 - helped extend his career

we don’t know what evans is asking for but 3 years 75 million would be a no brainer.

Brady was a good signing because he was the final piece (along with Gronk) to make a Superbowl run.  Evans is not a final piece for us, maybe he is for somebody else.  The average age when receivers start to decline is 31 or 32 from various sources on the internet.  Of course it's not an exact science.  Evans will be 31 with 10 years experience by the time his next contract starts. So to give him a 3 year guaranteed deal at the age 31 is not smart.  Your heart may be in favor, but your brain has to say no.   The best Licht can do is two years mostly guaranteed.  If there's a third year there has to be a way out.  From what we're told Evans wants three years with most guaranteed.  That is a big difference.    I would venture to guess that if Evans only wanted two years they'd have a deal done.

Again, you’re arguing with a guy who wants to jettison Evans and re-up White to a massive 2nd contract.

Jerry rice was a stud until age 40

terrell owens a stud until age 37

guys like Marvin Harrison stud until age 34 and Moss nosed dive around that time

so one would argue Evans is of that mold so 3 years to age 34 is worth the risk

Update: Star WR Mike Evans sent the #bucs a contract structure that would be "Acceptable" to him in order for him to stay in Tampa, according to Josina Anderson

Evans took the Buccaneers considerations into account in that contract structure as well, talks are still on going. Evans has gone over 1,000 yards in each season of his career and it would be a feel-good NFL story if he stays and finishes his career with the Bucs.

SR reporting he’s heard nothing about an impending deal.
