Mike Evans is already known as a stud against Man Coverage.
But, here's a few stud receivers our "Not Really a #1 Receiver and Whom the Offense Doesn't Flow Through" grades out better against Zone Coverage:
- AJ Brown
- Ja'Marr Chase
- Kennan Allen
- CeeDee Lamb
- Cooper Kupp
And, of course, the "Zone Beater" himself:
- Chris Godwin

No Lattimore
“Lattimore more often than not has owned Evans. Lattimore has a knack for getting in Evans’ head. It’s been five years since Evans has had a 100-yards receiving game against New Orleans.”
and they just gave up 300 plus against the Rams
big game ahead! Time to break the streak
3 catches against the Saints without Lattimore?
3 catches against the Saints without Lattimore?
I mean play calling was terrible.
they didn’t start to throw until halfway thru the 4th
Evans for the most part can't get it going vs the Saints.
Mike made the pro bowl! Good to see him get his flowers
Awesome!
Good to see our ""Not Really a #1 Receiver and Whom the Offense Doesn't Flow Through" receive some accolades.
Interesting tweet/video with Canales talking about Evans:
Via James Palmer on Twitter -
"Mike Evans is a Hall of Fame WR. Listen to how Bucs OC Dave Canales explains how he uses Evans as the focal point in designing his offense. How everything is schemed off him..."
Pretty high praise for the guy who's "Not Really a #1 Receiver and Whom the Offense Doesn't Flow Through".
The entire podcast. Worth listening too

8:45 They mention Canales as a Seahawks HC candidate because he shares the same philosophy as Carroll (having been with him for 14 years) AND PETE CAROLL WILL BE IN THE BUILDING LIKE ARIANS HERE.
27:07 IS CANALES . . . immediately Seahawks background and "got the run game going" and Mayfield and his MENTAL TOUGHNESS. Canales says his porocess with "castoff" QBs (the host's premise). Canales says we want the version that makes the QB most comfortbale so the offense is Mayfield-specific (so playing gun for example) and the OC has to "swallow pride" on system
The next topic is RUN GAME action that opens up the offense. Canales - "this is where i get really pumped" and of course says the coaches who handle line and RB had the biggest impact on the season. Making a running game THAT SUITS US.
Canales "we are going to have to run the ball" to play fast. He mentioned how they added 20 plus yards runnin AND THAT COINCIDED WITH WINNING.
Canales raves about Evans as a "starting point" to anticipate what a defense is going to do and "you know they are going to put one, two or even three defenders on him" so how do we play off that and how do we still get him the ball.
Versatile attack . . . and Mayfield "IS REALLY A THREAT ON 3RD DOWNS"
He also talks about his Latino heritage because they ask him about that and if you listen to his response you can see why people think of him as a HC candidate
Pretty high praise for the guy who's "Not Really a #1 Receiver and Whom the Offense Doesn't Flow Through".

It was so cute watching him try and push that narrative REPEATEDLY in an attempt to sound like he knew what he was talking about.
One of the worst takes in the history of the Red Board.
God-awful.
Mike Evans is the Bucs #1 receiver for sure, but theres a pretty easy argument that he's not really a true #1 if by that its meant that he is the CONDUIT for the offense.
That post followed me saying "Evans is a true #1 WR, in every way."
There is a reason that schmekel posts coach-speak, other people's quotes, tweets, articles from decades ago, etc. and will sprint away from anybody asking for his analysis. Painfully clueless, but completely shameless and incessantly posting.
