We were dead last in the NFL in both passing yards per game and average yards per attempt. How can anyone claim that the quarterback who started 13 of those games had a good season?
Pass Yardage allowedSeattle- #1New Orleans- #2Bills- #4Panthers- #6 (x2)49ers- #7Cardinals- #14Dolphins- #16Rams- #19Falcons- #21(x2)Lions- #23Eagles- #32He threw it good vs Falcons, Lions and Eagles and was not embarrassing (overall) against those top 10 teams
Some people on this board said Freeman's 2010 season was a fluke because we played bad teams with bad passing defense. Does that make Glennon's season better because he played a lot of really good teams with good passing defense? It should also be noted that the end of the year, when he supposedly regressed were against better teams with better pass defense.
I don't think it's quite accurate to say Freeman feasted on bad pass defenses in 2010. The 2010 season wasn't defined by playing bad defenses. The 2010 season was defined by playing bad QBs, which allowed the Bucs' bad defense to not give games away. The Bucs beat the Panthers twice and they had the #11 pass defense. The Saints had the #4 pass defense and the Bengals were #14.
Well say what you want. One had an easy schedule and one had a very difficult and this fan base is unable to see how any of that matters in either case.
that is the funny part(in bold) . . even funnier when Freeman was a 1st round selection and it was "all about 5" . . . and Glennon is . . well . . the New Myron Lewis (i.e., a wasted pick) . . . .

You can choose to believe whatever you want, but the same numbers that say the Bucs played good pass defenses in 2013 say they also played some good pass defenses in 2010.

Glennon is a legitimately curious case. All of his numbers say he had a pretty bad season except he was somehow pretty good at throwing touchdowns and not throwing interceptions.
More than this he wasn't a notorious dink n' dunker as people say. His % of attempts under 10 yards was the in the same range, and lower in some cases, than Luck, Rodgers or Brady. Brady did dink n' dunk this year but Luck and Rodgers aren't. Frankly, they were all about the same. In the 21, 31 and 41 ranges his YPA are similar to those 3 guys so he wasn't falling short on YPA downfield. Where he had the greatest variance with the good QB's was that under 10 yards and behind the LoS his YPA (similar completion % BTW for those who are doing the math) was 2 or more yards less than those other QB's. Basically, the short passing game was what let Glennon down last year not the intermediate or deep.
And he was money in the red zone

Only if you consider 12:0 TD:INT ratio with a 94 passer rating money... He was even better from the 10 yard line in.
Glennon had a terrible online in front of him. If we can improve that line and have the receivers hold onto the ball better I think Glennon will be a decent QB. Not great but good enough. To where he can lead an offense to score when needs to and defense will be solid I believe. I'm not all that confident that any of the QBs in this draft will be that much better than him.
We really need to start Glennon all year and hope 1 of 2 things happen. He takes off and improves on his rookie year or he flops hard and we can draft a QB next year. He's got the accuracy, arm strength and I believe inteligence to do it so I tend to think a better offensive scheme will help.Look at Phillip Rivers. Was very average the last couple years, new scheme and now he's playing at a high level again. It does matter. Two seasons in a row with a 88 passer rating then he gets a new OC and has the best year of his 10 year career.
Here's the problem with Glennon. The pressure thing isn't an aberration. He was god-awful under pressure in college too.
