I'm curious what kind of excuses you guys will have next year when Glennon lights it up. For him to do as well as he did with the crap around him was quite impressive. He may not be as mobile as guys like Cam and Kap, but he is a better QB than either of them.
What excuses are needed, saying somebody looked God awful last year doesn't mean they can't improve, saying that you didn't see anything in his game that leads you to think he can improve doesn't mean he won't, it simply means you think he's trash and don't see him improving.I've not seen a person say that he will not improve, simply they don't think he will. Also that "reason" of having nothing around him is an excuse, the guy ranked something like 33rd in a 32 team league for yards per game, doing so when we were behind on the scoreboard most of the season trying to play catchup. It's not like the talent we did have was any worse than the likes of what Jacksonville or the Raiders had to work with.
Where exactly is he ranked 33rd?
You won't find an "exactly" that would be why I said "The guy ranked SOMETHING LIKE 33rd."
Glennon threw the same amount of passes as Kaepernick. Glennon threw for more yards per game than Kaepernick. Glennon completed more passes than Kaepernick. Kaepernick beats him in other categories. But I wouldn't hang my hat on Glennon ranking 31st when you have Kaepernick at 32nd.
Kaepernick also ran for 500+ yards, 28 1st downs, and 4 TDs.....can Glennon do that to compensate? No. How many times do we need to go over this?

Because Kaepernick has the speed and athleticism to do so. I get you want a mobile QB. Everyone gets it by now. You're just so hung up on it that even if we had a top 10 pocket passer I'm not sure you would care unless he could run. Not saying Glennon will be top 10, but I think you care more about the QB's legs than his arms. Highlighted by the fact you brung up Taylor yesterday.
He's #31 in yards per game, which I don't really care about, but he's also #37 in yards per attempt. And, yes, there are only 32 teams.
Long developing routes, guys not getting open, pass rush getting there quick, missing open guys, etc. etc. it's a productive of a all around bad offense, coaching, and scheme.
You can come up with all the explanations you want, but the fact remains these are real numbers, they're bad, and if Glennon wants to be the QB of the future, those numbers need to get a lot better.

He has a lot of good numbers too for a rookie. These explanations are a real part of football. I didn't absolve Glennon of blame either.

And you can't seem to understand that while Kap and Glennon are very similar as passers (very average) Kap is much better because of what he can do with his legs. Glennon has nothing else to offer. He is just very average....and he chokes.

I do understand that. I also understand Kaepernick played with a good coaching staff and was drafted into a great situation. Glennon was drafted into a terrible situation for a rookie. Still he performed better than was to be expected out of a 3rd round pick. I know he did better than you thought he would. You made it seem like he was the biggest wasted pick of all time. So for being the biggest wasted pick of all time I would say he performed well above what was expected.
My "facts" are facts, your "facts" are excuses. My world is black & white and any stat I pick is absolute truth. ... Don't give me gray ... Unless I want it ... To make my point. Lol

You can throw out a bunch of excuses, but he was the same kind of guy in college
He was the exact same guy in college.

If people don't like what they hear they love to use the word excuse. I played football so I know there are reasons things happen. It's not always black and white. Maybe one day you and those that complain about people making excuses will learn that, maybe.
It isn't black and white and I don't think anyone is saying Glennon will definitely suck forever. There is always a chance he could suddenly progress and overcome all his faults. Crazy sh!t happens all the time. The point is, it's not likely to happen. If you played football and know whats up, then stop using the stats in arguments and just use your eyes. The kid can't handle pressure. That much is pretty damn obvious. Everything else is just white noise because everyone knows that a QB that can't handle pressure is not going to be a successful QB. That much is pretty black & white.

That's the thing though I don't just use numbers. I have taken pictures from the all 22's and have posted them. I have explained my thoughts on why Glennon isn't as bad as some of his numbers. I just don't want to keep repeating myself. Almost everyone has pretty much made up their minds on Glennon. Whether it be he's the starter or he's a backup. He's not great under pressure. But whether people think so or not it is possible to improve upon that. Is it easy? Will it be easy? No, but it's possible. Honestly we are all beating a dead horse. Like I said most of us have made up their minds.
Glennon as a college player was nothing like a NFL rookie. Glennon took a lot of chances in college while in the pros he was very conservative. His mechanical breakdowns were consistent when it comes to footwork (Tedford will fix this). However, Glennon led comeback in college late in games while in the NFL as a rookie he faltered. As Tedford said in the pc, it is hard to say what Glennon did right or wrong because you don't know what you he was asked to do. If he was asked to protect the football by Schiano and be conservative that may explain his radical change from college to pros.To me he looked like Freeman-lite coming out of college (similarities are staggering) but I think Glennon is more open to improving his mechanics early on.
He's no Buddy Hobbs. That's for sure.
