It's just according to common sense.

Then explain why the Glazers offered Liam the same exact thing.

If the Bucs plan is to promise McDaniel a future HC gig…it’s silly

They dont have to, in my view.

The normal assumption is that HC want new HC jobs, but it certainly possible that McDaniel wants to keep his family from moving (he has a young daughter in school) and wants a year or two to reset, focus on his offense etc.

And even without some kind of contractual or even implied promise of the Bucs HC gig, its there.  Bowles is 63 etc.

I just posted Darlington speculating (key word) that McDaniel might want the freedom that would come with the Bucs OC job.  I am pretty sure Darlington is his freind though, so that could just as easily be Darlington helping McDaniel put pressure on an other team lol, but its not a crazy thought.

would be interesting

This is great news from where I sit.  He has had the best QB in the league for the past three seasons and can’t move the needle.

Harbaugh's playoff record before Lamar: 8-4

Harbaugh's playoff record after Lamar: 3-6

It's weird...

Here's what's weird.  You think a competent OC would lose one game with Lamar under center.  Your stats are a much bigger indictment on Monken than they are a two time MVP.

Watch how Lamar does without Monken.

Weird...

This is such a clown take, even for you.

Will be interesting to see how any team does with almost 30% of the cap in one player.

The Ravens defense struggled during the season and down the stretch.

The hotseat take is a weak one.

Give me a franchise outside of Pittsburgh where coaching is guaranteed after next season.

Bowles isn’t in the hotseat anymore than Dan Campbell, Andy Reid, or Sirriani. It’s how the league works now.

Tampa has offensive talent (needs a good blocking RB and a TE). Anyone looking for a job wants above average talent in place. With or without Mike, we have that at One Buc Place.

1. If all three went 3-14, the other two would be safer than Todd.

2. If all 3 were fired, Todd would be the last one to get a new gig.

3. Todd is WAY more likely to go 3-14 than the other two

According to you.  No one thought Bowles was safe this year, and yet here we are.

The hotseat theory is one of casual knowledge of the inner-workings of the NFL.  No OC is going to look at our situation and say, no thanks, I'll go coach the Titans instead.  It's silly.

These are the kinds of things that are addressed when negotiating a contract.

Funniest thing I’ve heard all day. Those other coaches have proven something and can withstand a bad season. Bowles has proven nothing. He should have been canned this year. Anything short of a division title and at least one playoff win and he is toast. At least he should be toast.

Dan Campbell has proven himself??  When exactly.  Getting beat by the Redskins at home in the NFC semis?  Or, not making the playoffs in Detroit with other-worldly talent on offense???

As the Head Coach of the Detroit Lions, he's 47-36. That's a .565 winning percentage with one of the joke-franchises in the league. You have to go back to the 50's to find a HC of theirs with a higher winning percentage. I'd say he's proven himself to be a good HC. If he were fired tomorrow, which he won't be, he would have no trouble finding another HC gig. His problem was the OC he hired last offseason.

Look guy, you've been leghumping the bejesus outta Todd Bowles for years. You don't have much of a leg to stand on here.

Or, this has nothing to do with being pro Bowles as it does with how a competent OC would make a decision on where to coach.  People have been saying stuff like, Bowles is already lame duck.  I'm saying a good OC is going to bet his side of the ball being better and scoring points.  Just like Coen did and to a lesser extent Canales did.  My point is nothing more than that.  Oh yeah, also, I am not a big Todd Monken guy.  I don't see it.

The only positive I see for McDaniel choosing Tampa over Detroit OC job… is state (6%) and city taxes (24 Michigan cities apply additional tax - up to an additional 2.4%).

At his salary level that could be a consideration to weigh against superior offensive talent. If he could make a significant impact on that offense and help the Lions make a run, don’t think the tax savings would be that big of an issue.

When giving opinions on HC's, it kinda does.

That's the point. You "saw it" with Bowles. You opinion on Campbell, or any coach for that matter, is pretty useless.
