So tell me what kind of deal do you think they'll offer McDaniel when they can't guarantee him for more than a year?

They can guarantee the money. Make him the highest paid OC and guarantee 2 years, 3 years if necessary.

How can they do that? Just for the sake of argument assume that Bowles is fired or retires after 2026 and McDaniel is the OC.  Well McDaniel could be a candidate for HC, but the Bucs will want to do a full search. They may not want to hire McDaniel.  So a new guy comes in and wants his own guy for OC. What then do you do with McDaniel?

And for his part, sure you could guarantee him X amount of years, but he still knows the end could be one year away.  He'd get a payout, but is that whats important to him?  Or is a chance to revive his career more important?

I'm saying a good OC is going to bet his side of the ball being better and scoring points.  Just like Coen did and to a lesser extent Canales did

both 1st time OCs and in the case of Canales the only guy who would take the job. Mike McDaniel has way more experience and options.

we will all know soon enough.  Bucs completed their interview with him

This is great news from where I sit.  He has had the best QB in the league for the past three seasons and can’t move the needle.

I know many are in favor of him but if we are going coordinator and not head coach, he’s not a great decision IMO.  We need a young play caller who relates to our super young offense.

If anyone thinks Lamar Jackson is the best QB in the league, they haven't been watching his games. Ol' Mushmouth from Fat Albert makes a ton (and I do mean a ton) of mistakes. Panics and then runs every time. His play is almost predictable. He is a stellar athlete, but that is where my praise will end of him. He cannot win the big game. He's lucky more than he's great.

To me the more interesting question about Jackson is whether he is worth it froma. cap perspective.

Currently he is about 25% of the Ravens 2026 cap. Allen is about 15% of the Bills cap, Bradford maybe 18% Darnold about 12%. Go to the Bears and Williams about 4% at t the moment because hes on his rookie deal.

I know those numbers change all the time, but the Ravens defense went from #8 to #18, so is Jackson at 25% nof cap that much better than Allen Darnold, Bradford or even Williams that the PREMIUM is worth it? Depending on the QB compared thats 10-15% of the cap available to the Ravens if they don't have Jackson's contract and instead have a draft pick (Williams) or a reclamation project (Darnold) at QB

10-15% of cap is probably two high performance players on that defense

Dan Campbell has proven himself??

Yes. Go look at his record side by side Bowles over the last 4 years. Do you even watch football? His teams play their asses off. I’d take Campbell as a HC any day. This was an off year, which every coach has if they’ve been at it for more than a couple years.

This isn’t Remember the Titans my man.  His teams have underperformed for the talent they have.  If they “played their ass off”. They would be in the playoffs. His “bite the opponents knee caps off” approach has run its course.

This is about as glib a remark as one can make.  Yes, I watch a ton of football, Ravens included. Lamar ain’t the problem in Baltimore.

Pretty insulting take here.

You can call it insulting if you'd like (it's not meant to be) but the facts tell the story. Lamar is 3-5 in the postseason. In that postseason, He has had a greater than 100 QBR only 3 times (twice during the 2024 playoffs and once during the 2023 playoffs. The rest of the time? Around 65-75. That's not great by any stretch but lets look closer. In his playoff career, he has thrown interceptions a whopping 7 times in those playoff games. And an even closer look at some stats, he's been sacked a whopping 29 times in those playoff games to the tune of 183 yards (so call it 2 TD's).

You made the claim he was the best QB in the league. That statement is ludicrous. He is and always has been a problem in Baltimore. He's a QB with poor instincts and as I said, takes off and runs far too often. He cannot read through his progression. If his Receiver 1 is covered or taken out of the play, he panics. That is not the best QB in the league. I stand by my statement and back it up with stats and facts.

I will take your childish response without any rebuttal of facts or stats as confirmation that you neither (A) watch games nor (B) have a clue what you are talking about. Carry on.
