it has been really painful being a bucs fan the last 5 years. yet like the masochists we are, we keep sticking around for more. 2009 sucked but I pretty much think everyone saw that coming. with a rookie coach and Byron leftwich starting the opener. so I'm not going to count that as disappointing. I know this year has been rough, but honestly I only saw 9 or 10 wins max out of this team. most of us knew freeman wasn't going to be the guy and we all had our doubts about greg. but man, I gotta say 2011 was the worst. we were riding high off of a 10 win season with a bunch of guys injured and a record number of rookies starting , and you may not admit it now, but most of us here thought we had the next mike tomlin at coach and the next big ben at qb in josh freeman. I honestly expected freeman to be a top 5 qb in 2011, and with all the injured guys back and the rookies with a year under their belt for us to win 12 games MINIMUM. but then josh lost weight, fell off a cliff, raheem lost control and in came Rutgers.so all in all, this year was a huge letdown for me, but 2011 is still worse imo. I'm honestly expecting another 2009 type season next year, especially if greg returns. he won't dump glennon. we're going to be pairing the worst hc in the league with a bottom 5 starting qb and idc if "the defense only needs a de to be great" you pair a bottom feeder coach with a bottom feeder qb, you won't get anywhere. so strap in for another 4-5 win campaign next year. but at least we'll see it coming. unlike this year and 2011. which year do you guys think was worse?
Yep, 2011 was way worse. That ten game tailspin was the worst stretch of football I've ever seen. Nothing good came out of that. There are at least some diamonds in the rough this season.

At least we learned early on that this season was a waste of time. In 2011 it took until midseason to realize that.
I feel this season was a bigger letdown. Guess my expectations were set way too high for Rutgers and his cronies.
2011 was more disappointing. Fans who didn't have their head buried in the sand was not surprised by this year's outcome.
I feel better about this team than 2011... bunch of gutless quitters...I still feel this team is on the cusp. We just need a couple more pieces and some direction.

It brings up comparisons to Sapp, Brooks, and Lynch. Bring in our version of Rice, and we're good to go. 2011 brought back memories of 1976. These Bucs have a shot at finishing 5-3 in the second half of the season. The 2011 Bucs would have struggled against Plant HS. That team was shameful and going nowhere with Raheem. Schiano has changed the culture. The wins will come, even without a franchise QB.

2011 without a doubt.We were coming off a near playoff year, many thought we'd finally found our franchise QB and we had a whole bunch of returning starters from IR.Throw in the great start to the year before the total collapse and it it was like having a dream snatched away.This year was always going to be a lost season due to all the holes in the roster that Dom didn't even try to fill with real talent and many seeing that Freeman obviously wasn't the guy despite his records in 2012.

Fucking Greg schiano from all these big free agent moves in the off-season to the freeman situation to the ny jets loss.mrsa.Greg schianos ineptness as a coach. Bill Sheridan calling out fans. Paper bags. Fire schiano signs. Weekly speculation. I repeat we started 0-8!?!?!??! The season was over before it even began. In 2011 yea the team quit. But there's no way in hell this team should of not got a victory until week 9. That's sorry and pathetic. This has been the worse season in a very very longtime.
Good question.For me, it's gotta be 2011, and it started in the offseason. The team was screwed from the start when Morris/Dominik decided to sign Davin Joseph, Jeremy Trueblood, and Quincy Black to over $100M in contracts. Those resources could have been used to actually make the team better instead of keeping crappy players just so you can say "we take care of our own" or some other BS. And then you have Morris, and subsequently the rest of the team, falling flat on their face during the season. What a friggin' waste.This season was bad, but like TBTrojan said, there were more than a few posters who saw Freeman for what he was. I'm not sure anybody saw 0-8, but not many were think this team/coach's ceiling was too far over .500.
