Ebron could be the next Vernon Davis. That's worth the #7 pick.
Anybody COULD be anything..What kind of dumb point is that ?
Some players, like Ebron, have a more realistic chance at reaching elite potential than others.
Ebron is a reach 7th overall.
He looks like Gronkowski.
No he doesnt
...and since his is not being graded a top 10 player by anyone , what is it that you think you know that the experts don't?

Vernon Davis came out of college as the fastest TE in the history of college and he was benching 500 lbs. So its safe to say Ebron is not nearly as fast or strong as Vernon and without those abilities I wouldnt say he may be Vernon 2.0. He reminds me a little more of Finley and that would still be great, but I dont think taking a TE in the top 10 is a great idea unless they are Vernon Davis like prospect.
Exactly Pepsi. Finley is more like it for comparison

Who are these experts you speak of?
Pick one. No one is grading him that high that I've seen.He may end up a great player , but as Pepsi just proved to you , he is not a Vernon Davis level prospect. Hence he is a reach at 7.

I like Jermichael Finley a lot and if that's Ebron's floor I wouldn't cry, but he ran a slower 40 than Luke Stocker, and by a pretty wide margin. It's extremely likely Ebron will have better than 4.82 speed. He'll more than likely run 4.55-4.6.
I think Ebron will run a 4.4 or 4.5
Hell to tha no. He isn't much of an upgrade over Mason at MLB and the SAM position isn't used enough to warrant taking a 3rd LB that high. Out of the current top 15 prospects, Mosely would probably be the worst selection out of that group.

Are you referring to the "experts" as all the people who have never worked for an NFL team and just watch highlights on YouTube? If you are, virtually all of them have Ebron as a top 15-20, and if years past have produced JJ Watt at #11, Ryan Clady at #12, Darrelle Revis at #14, Earl Thomas at #14, Robert Quinn at #14, Jason Pierre Paul at #15, and Mike Iupati at #17, any player projected to be picked in the teens has potential to be elite.
I actually like Ebron but there is going to be a better player on the board at #7. Watkins or one of the two tackles for starters. If we can trade back then by all means give me Ebron.

Good post FRG. Thanks for the insights you offer.

Fair enough. In a pinch I may prefer Watkins or Robinson over Ebron, but I still think Ebron deserves serious consideration.

Its understandable if one doesn't like Ebron as a prospect, but I personally don't put much stock into the "he isn't graded as a top 10 guy, so we shouldn't take him top 10" stuff. Every year we see several players taken in the low teens-early twenties who should have been and probably would have been a top 5 pick based upon how they performed once they stepped on the field. If they feel that Ebron is a guy like that, then you take him.
