I actually like Ebron but there is going to be a better player on the board at #7. Watkins or one of the two tackles for starters. If we can trade back then by all means give me Ebron.
those Ts you speak of aren't better then Watkins. now would they fit our team better then Watkins then yea you can argue that, but when talking BPA at #7 and Watkins , Mathews or Robinson are there best player without a doubt is Watkins.
Pick one. No one is grading him that high that I've seen.He may end up a great player , but as Pepsi just proved to you , he is not a Vernon Davis level prospect. Hence he is a reach at 7.
Its understandable if one doesn't like Ebron as a prospect, but I personally don't put much stock into the "he isn't graded as a top 10 guy, so we shouldn't take him top 10" stuff. Every year we see several players taken in the low teens-early twenties who should have been and probably would have been a top 5 pick based upon how they performed once they stepped on the field. If they feel that Ebron is a guy like that, then you take him.
Additionally, the Combine hasn't even happened yet. As this stage two years ago no one even knew who Dontari Poe was. So much is going to change still.
For me, I want both team needs and BPA to be considered. I am pretty much fully against taking an OT in the first round, even if Matthews slips(unless Penn is cut or traded prior to May). OT just isn't as pressing of a need as some portray it to be. If no QBs/Clowney/Watkins are left on the board and the Bucs are looking at the #7 pick as a chance to upgrade the offense, I would think Ebron would make much more sense that taking an OT. Ebron's overall "grade" won't be much lower than a top OT, but his value for the Bucs is significantly higher than the value of an OT.
I do like Ebron as a prospect. I simply don't like him over many of the other prospects that should be available to is at #7. The majority of the football watching world seems to agree with me. If you want to try and tell me that he is the likely BPA , then I will have to say no thanks to that crack pipe you are smoking and let you pass it on to the next dupe.
It cant always be 100% BPA based upon Kiper/McShay/etc. What if Mosely does major work between now and May and he is graded out by most experts as the 6th-8thbest player, and he is the 'BPA' when the Bucs are on the clock. Do we take Mosely? Or do we look at the best 4-5 players available and see which one helps us to be a better team over the next 5 seasons?

Agree. We need a playmaker on offense and I think the pick has to come down to Watkins or Ebron. Besides, we need guards and quality Oline depth more than we need starting tackles. For this reason I'd be okay with us passing on Matthews or Robinson.

The thing is we're building for the longterm and anytime you're drafting in the top 10 and not picking a QB, you have to at least consider OT because it's so hard to find them much farther outside the top 10. Matthews and Robinson absolutely need to be considered.

If somehow Mosley grades out to be a Willis/Kuechly level prospect, he should definitely be in the discussion. I just don't see that happening.
Opinions can change of course ....I am just talking as of today .BTW : If you are so worried about "need" and " what helps us the most " , you should be finding a pass rusher we can reach for. I'd reach for Kony Ealy before I reached for a TE. We can win a lot more games with Tim Wright as a starter than we can with Daniel Teo-Nesheim as a starter.

I'm not so sure this applies. There's tremendous pressure on Lovie to turn this team around quickly, especially with the talent already on the roster. I think they'll be looking for someone who can make an impact right away.

Absolutely. Our OL sucked last year, but we shouldn't just nab an OLmen just for that reason. All 3 of the interior OL positions need to see a change of personnel. This can be done in FA as well as rounds 2-5.

The team hasn't won a playoff game in 11 years. That's not an accident. There are structural problems that need to be fixed. We're not on the cusp of anything. There's enough talent on the roster with better coaching they can win 7-8 games already. That's more than enough to show improvement. Lovie signed a 5-year contract. He needs to be building for the long haul or else we hired the wrong guy.
But with an improved pass rush and a more experienced Glennon I do think that we're a playoff team. We won 4 games last year and came pretty close to winning a few others despite the joke coaching staff we had.You say we can win 7-8 games but I think we can hit 10-11. We've got a great mix of vets and young talent. Just need a few more pieces...

I do somewhat agree about the value, but I personally see Penn/Dotson as the starters for at least another 2 seasons, so I do believe that immediate value should have a good influence on the decision. For the staff, its going to come down to Howe much they value Penn for now and the immediate future. Also, yea, I definitely dont see Mosely as a Willis or Bowman type backer. Him running in shorts shouldn't change a thing.

Well there is definitely no denying the need for pass rush. Most of what I am talkng about here is Ebron vs the OTs as well as Mosely since he is the subject of the thread.

It's possible some type of player could have a big impact at a position of immediate need and the team wins 10-11 games. But it's essential that player continues to have an impact the next 7-8 years. We can't have a Gaines Adams situation where the players fails to continue to develop. They need the best player for the next decade, whether he has a big impact as a rookie or not.
