Bruce Arians said that the 2022 team was the "most talented roster we've had" leading up the last season. :-)
Now, the season has passed, the Bucs were awful and more and more analysis comes out from PR and other sources like this on the Bucs DEFENSE:
Pass rush pressure rate is just as important, and the Bucs fell from 28.6% in 2021 to just 21.9% last year, according to Pro Football Reference. That’s more indicative of Tampa Bay’s struggles when getting to the quarterback in 2022 than just falling off by two sacks from the year prior.
In a concerted effort to help bolster the Bucs’ pass defense, Bowles blitzed less often in 2022. Significantly less, according to Pro Football Reference, which had Tampa Bay’s blitz rate at 45.4% in 2021 and just 28.3% last season.
As a result, hurries were down from 273 in 2021 to 155 last year, according to Pro Football Focus, and QB hits were also down from 94 in 2021 to 65 last year. Even the number of total batted passes decreased from 19 to six.
The Bucs defense was poor last year IN A WAY THAT IS CRITICAL TO BOWLES defensive scheme, a reality reinforced by the playoff loss to the Cowboys AND this years draft.
"The 2022 season marked the first in Bowles’ career as a play-caller where the outside linebackers did not lead the team in sacks."
Why nitwits still quote Arians is beyond me. He's a gasbag publicly.
It's certainly something to ponder, especially when you consider the same nitwit does it repeatedly.
Buggsy, you have a terrible track record for honesty (PPP loans, Rand Paul) but didn’t you post several times overall defensive stats to suggest the 22 defense was not really lesser than 21?
let’s see how this plays out :-)
This is on Licht. He's poured resources into the pass rush and it's a failure.
I'm sure the Barrett injury played a huge role in that...
Drafting Logan Hall who couldn't find the field didn't help.
If memory serves me correct, Vea led the team in sacks with like 7.5?

For sure. I think it’s right near midpoint of the season. 2 sacks maybe by that game, but yes tough loss.

to you everything is on Licht
except bringing in Arians and Brady and a Super Bowl.
No Barrett, no Pierre-Paul, no Suh...ALL keys to the 2020-2021 seasons pass rush. I was at the Cowboys playoff game, the defense was downright embarrassing. It was as if the Cowboys knew exactly what to do...maybe they were clever enough to watch some film on the Bucs D? I really didn't expect the Bucs to win that game, but I expected them to at least put up a decent showing. NOT.
@jc5100 3 of them haven’t played a down yet.. so let’s withhold judgement
What?! Most talented?! As fans, many drink the coolade. We are far from a championship roster now. Our pass rush during our Super Bowl playoff run was consistent from our 4 man line. We aren’t even close to replacing JPP, Suh, and a peak Shaq. Those guys, and Vita, we’re so dominant during the NFC Championship and SB. And then you don’t really ever replace a Brady, Gronk, and AB. Some of the greatest ever at their positions. JTS, Hall, YaYa, Otten, Palmer, Trask/Baker… most would be backups on other teams.

Barrett falling off was predictable. Before the injury he was only on pace for 6 sacks, which is exactly what I said would happen after he got paid.
Hall I don't know even know what to say. Didn't like the pick for a million reasons. Too weak, plays too high.
JTS doesn't have it.

Why did Licht have a losing record with 3 different head coaches, including Arians, over 6 years before Brady?

Your irrational hate" is showing.
Its showing because your way of acknowledging the ultimate success of a Super Bowl with LICHT'S coach, his QB and largely his roster is to go back even further, and without context.
This is why I say you're basically a troll, JC. Any unsupported position you post just leads to YOU POSTING a nearly infinite number of fallbacks (like the 02 defense success was really the offense LOL)
Licht is not great, but he's also a way better GM than you LMAO. His first coach is Lovie. who is HIRED BEFORE HIM and a complete disaster. The next coach is with Jameis Winston as a QB. Because you have no credible way to argue against that pick, you just morph to "Winston was damaged by the Bucs handling." SEE PRIOR COMMENT ABOUT TROLLING AND UNSUPPORTED POSITIONS LEADING TO AN INFINITE NUMBER OF FALLBACKS.
(its not exactly the towering heights of creativity or intellect to exist on a football message board by always taking the negative position. I mean, that's basically Morgan. Congratulations)
