Overall I'm satisfied if this is the choice. Lovie meets most of the characteristics I'd look for in my "ideal" head coach. He is clearly a leader of men, the #1 far and away most important thing I want. His style of leadership is also one that I think is best for the current and future environment of the NFL. I think it's the safest hire we could reasonably expect to land as far as making us a "respectable" franchise for free agents around the league. Also, I just can't see a Lovie Smith bombing out and getting fired in 2 seasons. I have confidence that he can attract (and identify) a competent staff. I think this hire gets us back to the level of consistent playoff contender faster and more assuredly then any other I can think of. I can totally see Lovie Smith being the coach for Tampa Bay for the next decade. I really dislike hiring our head coach before our general manager. It undermines the position of general manager imo. It's not the home run, out of left field, play caller head coach I was dreaming about. But that was always a pipe dream, especially given their last two hires. I don't think there is a hire more like Dungy they could have made sans hiring Dungy.
Hell yeah! So excited to get some good coaching in here. Back to glory days!
